Anyone remember how Bethesda Row Cinema used to show primarily foreign or art films?
did management change at Bethesda Row Cinema?
I can't tell if I'm misremembering this or if it's a real thing. In my mind, Bethesda Row used to be almost exclusively art/indie films and foreign films and would very rarely show mainstream blockbuster movies. It seems like now it shows all the same blockbuster films as every other theater.
Is this a real thing, or am I making this up in my head?
Did the changeover happen when they bulldozed that other theater in Bethesda?
Landmark Bethesda Row Cinema used to be my go-to for seeing independent and art films in the area. I recently started working in Bethesda and was excited to be in walking distance, but it looks like they’re playing a bunch of mainstream movies you could see anywhere, which was never the case before. Did they get bought out? Is it just that fewer of those movies are being distributed now post-COVID? Does anyone have any details on this? I’m so sad.
