I think I heard somewhere that he worked at his Dads commercial real estate brokerage firm before starting his hedge fund.
Is this true?
I can’t find any information on what Bill Ackman did before starting his Hedge Fund.
How did he get enough experience to start a hedge fund without ever working at a hedge fund? Correct me if I’m wrong on this.
He graduated Harvard College in 1988. Then received MBA from Harvard Business School in 1992.
Starts Gotham Partners in 1992. After winding down Gotham Partners in 1992, opens Pershing Square Capital. But does anyone know what he did from 1988-1992?
Try to gauge what type of experience/knowledge he attained that enabled him to start a successful L/S Hedge Fund.

The main skill you need to run a hedge fund is the ability to talk rich people into giving you their money to invest. Its mostly not about work experience anyway.
