Go to HP Consumer Desktop PCs - Updating the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) (Windows) or HP Business Desktop PCs - Updating the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) for more information. After restarting, Windows might display a message stating that the computer was improperly shut down or that a boot problem was detected. Read and respond to the screens to continue. If this recovery method fails, use another working computer to create a BIOS recovery flash drive to install the latest BIOS file.

Need recovery bios of old hp laptop
Sorry you have to experience that issue. I found some articles. Please check the error codes to recognize exact issues just to be sure. Error Codes Explainations: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1997719-1528356-16 To recover the BIOS on an HP computer, you can typically use a key press combination during startup. Specifically, you need to press and hold the Windows key +"B" key, then simultaneously press the power button. After 2-3 seconds, release the power button while continuing to hold the Windows and B keys. The HP BIOS update screen should appear, allowing you to recover the BIOS. If this method doesn't work, try using the Windows + v keys instead. Video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpiGUojtr3E&t=119s You can actually download old BIOS updates from HP Support page. Please share your Model Number in this site and select Windows 11 followed by "BIOS version", you will have an option to download it. https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/laptops Image Link: https://ibb.co/WvtVyKdb Enter your Laptop Model number (My Laptop: 8F503PA#ACJ) and you will get access to the links where it asks the Windows BIOS version (like 21H2, 22H2, 23H2, 24H2). Select your version and download it straight from there. I can share the Google Drive link for BIOS versions, however you still need to load them into a bootable pendrive or something like that to install them to your laptop. I hope this information helps. r/Hewlett_Packard on Reddit: HP Laptop not loading BIOS Recovery, black screen.
December 18, 2023 -

I have an HP Probook 450 G1.
The laptop does not want to turn on, I can hear the fan spinning but there is no display (black screen). The wireless button is glowing orange and the caps lock light is continuously flashing. After some troubleshooting I discovered that the continuous flashing is a BIOS error, I replaced the CMOS battery and tried to turn it on again, it does the same as before - fan spins, wireless button glowing orange but no display.
The difference this time is that the caps lock button only blinks 3 times. I did some further troubleshooting it appears that the blinking indicates a corrupted BIOS.
I followed HP's advice and downloaded their BIOS update and recovery software and loaded it onto a flash.
They say that you should hold Win + B keys in while the flash is connected and press the power button, this will load the BIOS recovery program from the flash and restore the BIOS.

The problem is that none of the key combinations are working, I tried Win + B, Win + V and just the B button (these other 2 combinations from a YouTube video), it does not work.
Another suggestion was to connect a bootable flash with an OS on and try to enter the BIOS that way but that also did not work - the display remains black, I cant do anything.

Another thing to mention is that after a while of trying to get the recovery mode loading the caps lock stopped blinking 3 times. It does not blink anymore with a normal boot, or even with the USB drive in.
Now it's just black screen and orange wireless button. I though maybe the screen just died but I am not sure how to test that properly, tried VGA and HDMI cable to an external monitor but it just says "no source found".

It's worth noting the laptop came with Win 8, but it currently has Ubuntu installed.

other things I tried:
•hard reset
•boot without battery
•remove and reseat RAM.
•boot without HDD instated.
