If you have ethernet, you should be able to launch the BIOS and launch the Internet Flash tool: https://download.asrock.com/Manual/AB350%20Pro4.pdf (page 60, which is page 65 of the PDF). If that doesn't work, grab a USB stick, go to the website, download and unzip the BIOS. Put that in the root drive of your USB stick (hopefully FAT32 formatted). Launch the BIOS (restart the computer, repeatedly press 'DEL' or the function key [F2, F10, or F12 usually]). Click the Tools, then navigate to 'Instant Flash', and select the USB stick. Find the file and open it. It will ask whether you're sure you want to use that file. Should take maybe 5 minutes and then it will update. Might restart a couple of times. You can check that it's up to date, either in the BIOS or my checking in CPU-Z (a free program you can download). Answer from persondude27 on reddit.com

How can I update the bios of a laptop?
Make sure that the bios update prompt isn't in the boot select screen rather than in the bios itself. Dell computers like to do this. Also, if you're using UEFI to boot, updating the bios may destroy your bootloader. Plan accordingly by backing up your data beforehand and be ready to reinstall your bootloader if need be. March 13, 2022 -

I'm almost done getting all the parts I need to build my first PC. In particular, I got a Ryzen 9 5900x and an MSI B550 motherboard. The manufacturer says they're compatible so long as I upgrade the BIOS.

How do I get this done when everything is fresh out of the box? It made it clear the system isn't going to POST without this update, will I be able to install the update on a USB drive and install it just like an OS on boot? Or will I actually need a whole other CPU to get my motherboard updated?
