Bitwarden Chrome Extension - How can I make it easier to use but still somewhat secure?
Not sure if the macOS version of the Desktop app is different from the Windows version (I don't believe they are) — if they are equivalent, then go to File > Settings > App Settings (All Accounts), and enable the following: "Start to tray icon"; "Start automatically on login"; "Allow browser integration" (presumably, this one is already enabled). In addition, disable the option "Require verification for browser integration". More on reddit.com

I have a mac that I use for work, I recently switched to Bitwarden from using Google Password Manager, just to increase security and help protect myself online. I installed the Bitwarden Chrome extension and it works but there are a couple of roadblocks to making this super useful for everyday work life.
Bitwarden (the app on my mac) must be open in order for touchID to work in Chrome at all
If Bitwarden is open and TouchID works properly then I have to Approve the Fingerprint Phrase that is listed in the Chrome extension as well as the Bitwarden app
Is there a way to make it so that I only have to use TouchID to access my passwords and nothing more?
In my short time using it - it seems like it works better in Safari than it does in Chrome.

I figured out the perfect combination to make this possible, here are the settings you need to toggle if you want to do this as well: Unlock with Touch ID (checked) Ask for Touch ID on app start (checked) Close to Menu bar (checked) Start Automatically on login (checked) Allow browser integration (checked) Require verification for browser integration (unchecked) It's working great and is more secure than Google Password Manager, it also allows me to have all my passwords synced between Chrome and Firefox so it's perfect!

I have been using bitwarden app on Windows, and I mostly store(write) password in Note. I was thinking about adding extension into browser but I have doubts.
So generally speaking, how safe can an extension be? What if browser get infected and data breached by extension? In infected browser, can someone read data from extension? Also how safe are the cookies?

I don't view that the bitwarden chrome extension poses any hazard. In fact the bitwarden chrome extension offers phishing protection if you use it the right way (I fill from the extension using cht-shift-L, and that only works if I'm on the right sight matching what I saved into bitwarden) OTHER chrome extensions installed can pose a hazard if they are malicious (malicious extensions can read anything on any site including passwords filled from the bitwarden extension or any other means. So vet your extensions, review their permissions, and don't install more extensions than you need (or segregate your browsing into different browsers or browser profiles so that fewer extensions are in the browser/profile where you do important logins using bitwarden) Tavis Ormandy offered a critique of password manager extensions here . But he works for google and would prefer you to leave your passwords in the chrome browser itself (I believe most security professionals would disagree with his position on that)

If your computer is infected, no password manager app running on your computer is safe. With that caveat, using the browser extension is safer than not using it, as long as you don't override any of the security safeguards (e.g., by enabling auto-fill on page load, by setting a vault timeout of "Never", or by setting a PIN or biometrics but preventing the extension from locking with the master password when the browser restarts).
