Black Cat, also known as Felicia Sara Hardy, is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. She was created by Marv Wolfman and Dave Cockrum and first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #194 in July 1979 as an adversary of Spider-Man, though she later became his on-off love interest and ally. Born in Queens, New York, she is the daughter of renowned cat burglar Walter Hardy and was trained in martial arts and acrobatics, initially following in her father’s criminal footsteps before evolving into a complex antiheroine. Her signature ability is a psionic power to alter probability fields, causing bad luck for those around her, which she uses in conjunction with her skills as a thief, hand-to-hand combatant, and expert acrobat. A new series written by G. Willow Wilson and drawn by Gleb Melnikov was announced in May 2025 and began publication in August 2025, marking a fresh chapter in her story as she attempts to balance her life as a super-thief with a newfound commitment to heroism.
