Black Friday knocks out Boxing Day in Canada | Plus Company
One key learning - consumers were after big deals, particularly with inflation and threat of recession in Canada. Retailers who continued to offer deep promotional discounts not tied to Black Friday saw an average order value (AOV) drop of 15-20% (YOY). Sky-high inflation had the greatest impact on Canadian consumers in 2022.

Black Friday (shopping) - Wikipedia
5 days ago - In 2016, total spending on online retail sites on Black Friday was £1.23 billion, a 2.2% increase over 2015. In 2017, UK retail sales in November grew faster than in December for the first time. The large population centers on Lake Ontario and the Lower Mainland in Canada have always attracted cross-border shopping into the United States, and as Black Friday became more popular in the US, Canadians often flocked over the border because of their lower prices and a stronger Canadian dollar.

r/montreal on Reddit: When did Black Friday become the entire month of November?
November 18, 2023 -

Anyone else annoyed with Black Friday now being a month long event? Canadian Tire is one of many examples with their “pre-black Friday” sales. There’s too many other companies to list doing this crap. Advertising left, right and center and it’s getting harder to avoid.

Do companies really think that we as consumers are this dumb and that these aren’t truly deals anyways and just more useless junk that no one wants or needs?
