Looking to upgrade my kitchen knives. Using Cuisinart knife block set. Did some research and reading here and I learned I shouldn't buy a knife set but rather a few knives I would use. Want some workhorse knives because to be honest my household will not take care of them like I see other redditors do. I'll hand wash but I know nothing about sharpening and other intricate details. Don't really have a budget but not trying to spend more than lets say 200 a knife. Post all deals. Also should I purchase a block to store my knives or is magnetic storage more recommended? My cousin went to culinary school, bought her first set of knives through there as they got better deals for better knives.
For you to get something better than what they can likely get, youd have to spend a fair bit more or get lucky.
A good sharpening set might be a better option. Maybe a home-made stropping block?

I have had really great experiences with KnS (both us and aus) for Black Friday events. Epic Edge also used to do some magic. I think bernal also used to have some interesting finds popping up as daily deals between thanksgiving and Christmas. I'm an unrepentant KnS fanboy though--those ebony handle options (particularly via aus site for the nicer nicer stuff) really seal the deal for me. More on reddit.com
