I'm shopping for a 65 inch 4K TV for Black Friday and I'm losing my mind trying to compare models. I'll see a TCL or Hisense with 120hz, Dolby Vision, local dimming, all the specs for 500 bucks, then a Sony or Samsung with seemingly identical or worse specs for 1200. I don't understand what I'm actually paying for with the expensive brands. Is it just the name or is there real quality differences that don't show up in spec sheets? Reviews talk about things like processing, motion handling, and color accuracy but those are hard to evaluate without seeing them side by side in person. I mainly watch streaming content and sports, no gaming, so I don't know if I need all the fancy features or if a budget TV with good specs would be fine. My fear is buying a cheap TV that looks great on paper but has terrible picture quality or dies in 2 years.
For people who've compared budget and premium TVs, is there an actual noticeable difference in real world use? And what should I be looking at beyond the spec sheet to know if a Black Friday TV deal is actually good quality or just cheap for a reason?
