Plumber here. There's not really such a thing as a bifl faucet, but I would go one of two routes:

1)a domestic brand like American Standard, Moen, or Delta (assuming you're in the US or Canada) or;

2)grohe.

With the domestic brands, but from a plumbing supply place, not a big box store - companies often sell an identical looking faucet with different internals to big box stores so they can hit the requested price point. Lots of brands have "lifetime warranty" but imports or home depot specific models might take 3 weeks to send you a replacement part. I can get you a part for a 30 year old American Standard in the worst case scenario over night.

For something more high end I find Grohe is the most consistent with the quality of their hardware.

The difference between the two recommendations is cost vs appearance. I'm OK installing a $600 faucet for my own use in my nice kitchen but I wouldn't trust aa tenant enough to put one in a rental unit, no matter how high end.

Delta has faucets with a feature they call "Shield Spray Technology" that has a narrow high velocity stream in the middle and a laminar flow curtain of water around it that is supposed to contain the splatter somewhat. I haven't tried one myself but when I was shopping for my kitchen, I strongly considered one for that feature even though it seems from reviews that the "curtain" isn't always effective. I ultimately went with a faucet from Principle Faucets because the foot pedal offered me much more convenience for my needs than the fancy water blaster would have, although in a perfect world I would have both. Moen has faucets with a feature called PowerBoost and from your description, it sounds like that may be more like what your landlord had at your last place. More on reddit.com
