r/knives on Reddit: What happen to Blade HQ
November 22, 2024 -

I don’t think I’m gonna be giving blade hq any more of my money. Apologies for the incoming rant but it’s ridiculous.

In September of 2023 I ordered a lionsteel sr-22 as a gift for my uncle, ordered it 3 weeks in advanced as I figured this would be enough time. After almost 2 weeks and not a single update on the tracking I decided to cancel the order. When I tried to cancel the order the website said that they were unable to process and to instead call Customer service. Did that and everything went well and ordered the knife from Amazon instead and it arrived flawlessly.

Fast forward to January of this year and I sign on to my blade hq account only to find that it has been suspended and I was unable to use my reward points or place an order. After calling customer service they told me that in September of 2023 I had made a chargeback for a knife they delivered. After showing the customer service rep that they had it wrong and that I cancelled the order through their website before it even shipped they reinstated my account.

Months go by and just when I think I’m all good earlier this week (coincidentally trying to order another knife as a gift) I sign on to find my account suspended again and this time after asking customer service they say that there were MULTIPLE chargebacks in the month of September despite my only order that entire month being the sr-22. Since that was the case they had to permanently close my account.

Any recommendations for new websites?

First time knife purchase as a mature collector just starting my journey. My purchase with blade went horrible from the beginning. Their system wasn’t taking my payment, when I finally could place my order it fell thru the cracks and I had to reach out yet again to get it shipped out. When I finally received my blade it came in rough condition. I was about to just take the hint and give up on my new hobby but decided to give them a chance to make it right. They patiently went thru my issues one by one and ended up sending me a duplicate blade, refunded my initial purchase and even let me keep this one. With all of that in mind I’m wondering how the rest of the community feels about this knife shop. What are your stories?

February 22, 2024 -

hey yall, I want to buy a few stilettos from Blade HQ. I saw a post that's from 6 years ago asking the same question. everyone who commented had nothing but good things to say. I just wanted ask anyone who has recently bought from Blade HQ. are they still reliable?

(EDIT) has anyone bought knives off of ebay? I've seen a few vintage boot daggers with good prices. but I'm extremely skeptical about those. any insight would be appreciated.

I wanted confirm that BladeHQ.com is a reputable company before making an online purchase. I've read where people have received reproductions and seconds from Amazon and would like to avoid a similar experience. Thanks in advance.

Blade HQ kind of sucks. : r/knifeclub
September 16, 2020 - This is the second time they offered this knife. You're absolutely right Blade HQ absolutely "kind of sucks" The have hundreds of knives that I'm sure are of great quality, but when they drop something new, there's usually a zero chance that a normal internet purchase can go through.

r/knives on Reddit: Beware of BladeHQ overselling their knives!
January 2, 2024 -

I ordered a CRK Inkosi in Magnacut with carbon fiber inlays. I received a confirmation email and the money left my account.

After a few days of not receiving a tracking number I emailed them asking for an update. I was fed a story about a third party not approving the order and my order was canceled AFTER they took the money. They promised a refund which I've yet to receive. These are not good business practices in my book.

I've heard about all the shipping issues they've had in the past few months but this really brought their issues to light. It's obvious they oversold the knife and because I asked for an update I became the perfect candidate to lie to and get the short end of the stick. I've ordered from them many times in the past but today they certainly lost a customer.

Just trying to give you guys a heads up. BladeHQ is in bad shape right now. Buyers beware!

I’ve been thinking about ordering a knife from there, but I don’t know anything about the site or how trustworthy it is. Does anyone have any experience with the site?

To anyone who's used BladeHQ in recent months, or the past year, have you had an absurd shipping time with your order?

I have used BladeHQ since 2012 and I've always been fond of them. I have been on a bit of a knife/gear hiatus and haven't ordered from them in 2 years. I recently put in and order through BladeHQ and chose the free shipping option.

It is now day 14 and I still don't have my order.

It was over 100 hours after I placed the order when they shipped my order, and I swear they found a blind sherpa to walk my package to me.

Did they just have a severe decline in customer service, or do they just not give a fuck? Is this common to wait two weeks to receive items that were in stock?

If this is their normal, I will never use BladeHQ again, and I'll be sure to actively steer people away from them.

March 16, 2022 - Both the fat carbon billets and S35V is fairly affordable right now. BladeHQ (in my opinion) always overpriced their exclusives (which is why you ALWAYS see them on their sales) unless it’s a Spyderco small batch.

Review - Before you order @ Blade HQ | BladeForums.com
March 22, 2019 - Blade HQ is on my "use only if they are the only ones in stock or have a sale running and have the best price" list. They monopolize google search results so my first few online knife purchases were through them. They were very, very slow to ship back then (admittedly, they are better now) so I eventually found other places to try to spend my money with first.
