I’m sure I’m not the only person getting political spam messages on their phone. At first it was only a few. Then I typed STOP on one of them and - kaboom! All of the sudden I’m getting three four five times as many. I now hit block and delete and they still keep coming from other numbers.
Is there any way to stop everything inbound? It unlikely I’d miss a customer text, because they can always call.
Please help!

You should be able to block texts from anyone who isn't on your contact list. It's probably a setting in the messages app called "Block Unknown Senders." You learned the hard way to never respond to spam, even to type "stop." That just tells them you're human and reading the texts. Just erase them and block the number.

It depends which network you're on. For Sprint, if you turn off text messaging it is off completely (incoming and outgoing). For T-Mobile, if you turn it off, they still allow incoming and outgoing to short codes and, according to Ting support, there's no way to turn that off. Unfortunately, plenty of spam still comes from short codes. This bugs me too, but Ting has been great about crediting my account when one slips through. More on reddit.com

Hi, so, the past few weeks/months I've been receiving an increasing amount of spam texts, nearly all some version of "what does your business need/i have a great offer for your company/I'm ready with that loan we talked about last weekend in Vegas" etc etc... But more specifically, they nearly all address me as Nicole - I am not Nicole. I do not know a Nicole, nobody relates to me is names Nicole... I have had this cell number for literally almost 25 years. Which obviously is a long time for my number to get put onto spam lists, and frankly I'm kind of surprised I've survived this long without having to endure a steady bombardment of bs business loans and crypto scams
I use Google for my phone app, which honestly does a pretty impressive job of automatically screening and blocking spam calls, I think one gets through maybe once every week or two. I believe my messages app is also Google, but it's doing a decidedly less stellar job of screening the text messages...
So what I am wondering, is if anyone knows of a way or if it is even possible, to somehow create a filter for incoming text messages for a particular word(s) (in my case, the word 'Nicole') and move them to a separate folder, so that my messages app is not completely overrun with these spam texts, without constantly deleting them. I don't want to have to keep seeing them! It's driving me crazy
I would also love any suggestions on different apps that could help me with this, or any ideas at all. Thank you for reading!
Edit: the messages are all coming from different numbers, so even if I block them, a different one will just come along. And no, I do not respond to any of them or acknowledge that mine is a good/live number
