Every year or so BMO tries to take away the package i have which provides me with unlimited transactions with no monthly fee. Their statement is just keep x amount of thousands of dollars in our near no interest bank account and you won't be charged. I keep coming back to "i agreed to have 3 products with you in exchange for this account " if you change this i am closing everything and walking across the street to the credit union who will give me free banking. Every year it gets escalated to a branch manager who eventually gives us back our no fees unlimited transaction account and refunds what they charged. I hate BMO. I hate all the big 5. They all suck. The only reason i am not with the credit union across the street is that they royally fucked up when we tried to switch to them, costing us money and took months to even fix the original problems. If there were a competent CU near us i would switch in a heart beat. More on reddit.com

Longer check holds is happening elsewhere too. Another poster mentioned similar issues with a different bank recently. Open a line of credit to smooth out cashflow. Presumably, you require a deposit(s) for larger jobs. If so, maybe increase the deposit amount / percentage to account for increased costs and risk exposure. Setting aside the check holds issue, best to have multiple bank accounts for redundancy. Open another business account elsewhere. Also, while on that, if your personal account is also with BMO, open a second personal account elsewhere too. More on reddit.com
