Building our first home. It is a mid century style ranch, and with the way prices are, we want to cut costs. One of the builders recommended vinyl board and batten for the house instead of brick or Hardie board. What do y’all think?
I will try to link the photo.
Hi everyone,
We recently finished our build, and while the process was mostly great, our siding experience was less than desirable. The crew rarely showed when they said they would, and their work wasn’t what I would consider up to par.
Since the install of vertical siding on the front of the house, we’ve had consistent issues with “bubbling” in areas. Initially, it was only a few pieces, and the company sent the crew back up to replace them. The same ones bubbled again, and the company said they would no longer replace them.
Fast forward a month or two, and nearly all the siding is bubbling. From your experience, what is could be causing this, and what recourse do I have? The company has already been paid.
A little background:
The company is a large exterior company in a local city. The installers are one of their subs. The company provided the material and the subs to install. This was not a crew that my builder chose.
Hi, my garage has crappy particle-board siding that takes a ton of maintenance and looks awful. I'd like to replace it and a contractor quoted me a pretty nice price using Home Depot's vinyl siding.
I don't care about insulation (it's a detached garage) and don't mind if it looks a little cheap (I'll have trellises along most of the visible parts). I'm mostly interested in low maintenance. I live in NE Ohio so aside from seasonal temperature fluctuations, we don't really get any extreme weather here.
Is there anything I should be aware of with regards to this brand? Are there any better recommendations in a similar price range?

Thanks!
Need to side my 12x16’ studio I’ve built myself. Applying on top of zip panels. Want a board and batten style.
I can’t find smooth LP panels, only textured. Though I’m told they’re available by some.
One place tells me they sell TruWood panels that are smooth, but I can’t find anything on TruWood’s website that says they offer it.
Then there’s Hardie Panels. I love the look but the increased cost, difficulty in pickup and installation (I,e., can’t do it myself), and the dust makes me hesitant.
Can anyone help point me in the right direction? I have an 8’ rear wall and a lean to roof leading to a 10’ front wall if that’s important.
