Bob Weir dies – Revisit his thoughts on live music, John Mayer
4 days ago - Bobby Weir: The challenge is enormous, but as you might expect that’s why we did it. You live from challenge to challenge, in the art world at least. Otherwise, what are you doing? We could have done the shows (as planned in February), we’re pretty much ready to go. But the extra time we have will give me time to sit with the audio fellows we have and just learn how to breathe more life into the arrangements.

John Mayer on Bob Weir: "He’s a total savant."
April 28, 2025 - That’s what makes the guitar section of the band sound so huge; it’s like he’s figured out precisely how to "fan out" against the backdrop of the rhythm section. He’s the harmonic engine of the band. How has playing with Bob impacted your own playing? I’ve certainly learned how to sit and let the music happen for a bit without pushing it forward.

He was a guest at the Sacramento show on The Search for Everything tour. Sitting next to me were a couple of Deadheads who came hoping John would sing some of their songs. I was so excited for them that Bob Weir came on. They were freaking out! I’m not all that familiar with Grateful Dead songs so it was nice to share that moment with them as they were happy for me when John sang my favorite song. RIP Bob. You and John brought so many people together ❤️

For me personally it's sort of like a hands-on boots-on-the-ground stage thing for me, experience-wise. Bob has taught me the glory of asymmetry. SJ: Mm-hmm. JM: I think that's the best overall way to say it. Four times, they should just call me "four times Johnny." Four times nice and square, good.
