I tried everything to fix the noise coming from my two Bose subwoofers without success. Both were making the same noise until I moved the power cable that was passing underneath both subwoofers. The power cable has to go straight back without passing by one side or underneath the box. This way, the two boxes never made the noise again.

r/bose on Reddit: I solved why my wireless bass module was popping/crackling
November 10, 2022 -

I have the Bose 900 soundbar, wireless 700 bass module, and wireless rear speakers. For about a month, the bass module would crackle or pop during scenes where bass was evident, and I just figured out why.

About a month ago, we upgraded our wireless router to a Synology RT6600ax. It’s awesome and highly recommend it. HOWEVER, I eventually found that the 5GHz band will interfere with the bass module.

I figured that the crackling noise coming from the module was being caused by the router, but not sure why. I tried every setting on the router, but eventually disabled the 5GHz band a few days ago and all problems went away!

5GHz is great for faster speeds, but only at shorter distances. The 2.4GHz is for longer distances but slower. We have 26 devices running on it and it still feels fast.

Hope this helps y’all!

Popping or crackling sound from wireless bass module - Bose
If the issue no longer occurs when the bass module has a wired connection to the console, wireless interference was causing the issue. A shielded cable is recommended to avoid interference from other electronic devices.

Popping or crackling sound from wireless bass module If you hear pops, clicks, skips, crackles or unexpected noise from your bass module, try the following:Be sure the bass module is within wireless range of the soundbar. Your bass module connects wirelessly using Bluetooth technology, which has a range of about 33-feet (10 m). This range can be reduced by obstacles (e.g. walls, furniture, other wireless devices, etc.). If such obstacles exist between the bass module and Bose soundbar, try moving the bass module closer to the soundbar. Check for sources of wireless interference. It's possible that interference from other wireless devices are affecting the wireless functionality of your product. Check for other wireless devices in the area of your product (i.e. another router, cordless phone, wireless printer, smart TV, etc.). To determine if a device might be interfering, try unplugging its power cord or disabling Wi-Fi on the device. If the issue is resolved when a particular device is removed, try placing that device farther away from your product, if possible. Additionally, if the device has a wireless channel setting, try a different channel. If using a wireless connection, try connecting the bass module with a wired connection. Your bass module can connect wirelessly or with a wire. In situations where you cannot reposition the bass module or other wireless devices to avoid wireless interference, connect a shielded 3.5 mm cable from the Acoustimass / Bass output on the soundbar to the Acoustimass In connection on the bass module. If the issue no longer occurs when the bass module has a wired connection to the console, wireless interference was causing the issue. A shielded cable is recommended to avoid interference from other electronic devices. A 15-foot (4.5 m) shielded audio cable is available to order through Bose.

r/bose on Reddit: I've had my SB700+sub for about a year and I'm not loving it, I get constant split-second audio drops and my sub makes this weird popping noise - maybe someone can help me out with some knowledge.
March 27, 2019 -

It seems anytime there's 5.1 audio there's always these moments of the sound dropping out for like a split second. It's completely random and sometimes it's fine but when the music is swelling and there's a moment building and suddenly there's a sudden drop in audio for a second it totally kills the vibe.

Aside from the audio dropping out, most of the time my sub is working fine but then there are times where it makes this weird crackling/pop sound, crazy annoying.

Am I right that the SB doesn't decode (at least very well) DTS, ATMOS, Dolby? I wish I would have known this because so much of my source material uses one of the three. It's crazy how much I spent with such a hinderances.

My set up is Nvidia Shield connected to a Vizio Quantum P-series HDTV with the ARC HDMI going into the soundbar.

  • The soundbar's EQ is all zero'd out (default)

  • ADAPTiQ is off because it's in a huge room with 20ft ceilings

  • Dialogue Mode is off

  • Audio Track set to both

  • BassModule is at 0 the sub is about 15ft away from the TV and SB.

Anyways, thank you for the read and look forward to hearing any input!
