September 6, 2024 - Bose uses custom EQ settings for it's non standard speakers and when you replace them with normal speakers it sounds terrible ... If your speakers have non standard impedances like 2 or 3 ohm the factory amp will work best with speakers that match the originals. JBL and Infinity make coaxials and components with ratings from 2.3 ohms to 3 ohms, depending on the model. I have a car that had 2 ohm 6.5s in the doors, I replaced them with JBL component mids rated at 2.3 ohms (JBL GX608C), I didn't use the included component crossover because I used different 8 ohm tweeters with in line capacitors and the factory power didn't exceed the full range capabilities of the mids.

I know the rear bose pods on the C4 verts are acutally made to go in place of 6x9s, so you could run some 6.5 mids in the back. For the front pods, you might be able to put in some 5.25" speakers up there. What is your total budget for this project? Are you going to use external amps? Did the C4 have dash speaker openings as well? (I know several GM cars back then had both dash and door openings and both/ either one was used depending on which stereo was installed)

Might I suggest looking into the new Kicker KS 2.5" wide band? If i hadn't spent a decent chunk on vintage Resolution stuff over the last couple years, I'd go with them. You can get them separate, or with a 6x9 in a component set.
