I've had this thing for about 2 weeks and it was working fine until yesterday. The battery died while I wasn't home and now when I plug it in to charge nothing happens. I've tried different outlets, different cables, nothing. I tried googling the issue but nothing comes up beyond the basic troubleshooting you can find in the product manual.
edit: Well I just left it plugged in and after a few hours it randomly started charging. I guess if it's going to do this any time the battery dies I'll just be careful to not let it die.
I just had this problem. I talked to support, and they told me to go to update.bose.com/soundlinkcolor to update my soundlink's software. If that doesn't work (or if your unit's software is up to date), they say to do the following:
-
Plug soundlink in to wall charger
-
Hold down the play/pause button for 15 seconds.
-
Then, BEFORE releasing the play/pause button, unplug the charge cord from the unit.
-
Release the button,
-
Plug the unit back into the wall charger.
-
Press the power button, and your unit should power on.
Hope this helps anyone else who has trouble with their Soundlink Color.
Edit: Formatting. Also, steps 1-4 above put the unit in "ship mode" and then steps 5-6 take it back out again.
I'd take it back and get a replacement.
However, it may be easier to call support and explain it to them.

I've had this bose color soundlink 2 for quite a few years now and it's still in pretty good condition however just this morning I woke up to find it dead (I usually have it quietly playing music while I sleep) so I plugged it in and it made the noise and showed the light that indicated that it was charging but quickly ended. After messing with it I'm noticing that it only charges for a moment then quickly dies. Is there a way to fix this or do I need to buy a new speaker?
