Hi everyone,

My dad's bose smart speaker can't be turned on. I tried resetting it by pressing the pause button for 10 secs but instead of turning the ring white to indicate reset, it turns the ring red and stays like that. Pressing the pause play button for 10 secs turns the light off but on again instantly. Pressing the other buttons do nothing. Do you guys think it might be a battery issue, perperhaps a replacement needed, or what other issue could be causing this?

I would try and see if recovery mode can fix it. It'll need to connect to your wifi (if it isn't already) so it can download/re-download the latest update. Hopefully that'll get it back up and running. The instructions are located here . If that doesn't work you should probably call up Bose to see if they can help. Let us know what happens 🙂

I own a Bose Portable Smart Speaker purchased in June 2024. About two weeks ago, it began randomly disconnecting from my phone. A few days later, it suddenly stopped working altogether and now only shows a solid red light (see attached photo).

I’ve tried every troubleshooting method I could find: attempting recovery mode (which doesn’t work), using the Bose Updater app (it doesn’t detect the speaker), and following the steps in this Bose support article: https://www.boseapac.com/en_in/support/articles/HC2793/productCodes/bose_portable_home_speaker/article.html

. Unfortunately, nothing has resolved the issue. Can someone please help? I am based out of India and Bose doesn't have official service centers here, only authorized ones. I am skeptical giving my speakers to them, partly because they might screw it up further, and party because I am pretty sure they'll charge me a kidney. Can someone who has seen this before help? heres what ive tried so far.

holding down the power button for 10s while plugged in and blinking red. nothing happened
while plugged in and blinking red holding down the multi function button. power button turned from red to orange after 10s then when i it go it turned back to red
tried to reinstall the update using the advanced updater but it shows "no dice"
tried to downgrade it using github.com/bosefirmware on mac but it shows that the updater is outdated and i need to use the new updater which dosent let me downgrade it.

all of this and still nothing came from it. any suggestions. open to anything new i can try to salvage it

I had a similar problem and tried all the methods you mentioned. I finally found information about the error recovery option on the btu/bose.com website. You need to enter the key combination O, P, T, up arrow, down arrow. This gives you the opportunity to remove system errors without reinstalling. It worked for me and the speaker was able to charge to 100% again.

Open the Bose updater site Go into Advanced mode by entering the following key combination: a, d, v, up arrow, down arrow Hit "Update Now" Let it run - takes several minutes - don't unplug the speaker from your computer And then, voila, it should work.
