It's not bad for the price. It's an upgrade from most tv speakers, dialog is clearer, would work best in small rooms I think. Answer from StrikeRich on reddit.com

I’m sure the higher end Bose bars are probably even better but thought I would let you know you can get it on the cheap as well plus it sounds pretty good as well and shouldn’t have issues in your apartment.r/Soundbars • Soundbar for Dialogue ->

r/bose on Reddit: Bose Solo Soundbar Series 2 as stereo?
September 22, 2025 -

Hello everyone,

Some time ago, I received a Bose Solo Soundbar Series 2 as a gift. I use it everyday as a soundbar under my TV.

I know this is an entry-level soundbar, however I was wondering if it was possible to expand it, with two speakers in the back (one speaker on my left rear, one speaker on my right rear). According to the manual, it is possible to couple it with (for example):

• Bose Soundbar 700 • Bose Soundbar 500 • Bose Home Speaker 500 • Bose Home Speaker 300 • Bose Portable Home Speaker

I was wondering if it is possible to couple those two extra speakers as stereo? Or is it only possible to use it in "party mode" where the sound on the three speakers is the same?

All information about the possibilities or experiences are welcome.

Thank you!

r/Costco on Reddit: BF Sale - Bose Solo Soundbar Series II or Sonos Beam (Gen 2) Soundbar Bundle
November 9, 2023 -

Hi, I'm looking to get a soundbar during this year's BF sale and saw the Bose and Sonos are both going to have deals. My local store doesn't have either (only the more complete sound systems for demo), so I wanted to get some thoughts on these sets that don't have a subwoofer.

I'm certain the Sonos sounds better based on general reviews, but I'm wondering if it's worth 2.5x the difference? I have no issue affording it, but at the same time, I don't want to spend the extra cash for something that casual listeners are not able to discern -- as this post very like exposed that I'm no audiophile.

Our living room is not too large, about 10 ft deep (from the tv) x 15 ft. I'm specifically looking at these soundbars without the woofer as we previously had another 5.1 home theater system from 12+ years ago that died a while back (I think it was a Sony or LG but can't even remember), but it was overkill and I always turned down the bass to not bother the neighbors.

So the main usage is for improving the speech audio on the tv, and also gaming on my ps5 which has similar issues but at least most games do have settings to adjust music/sfx/dialog volume separately.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

r/bose on Reddit: Bose Solo Soundbar Series II and Remote volume control
October 9, 2022 -

Hi all. New to Bose.

My wife found this soundbar for our anniversary and it was a great deal at Costco, new, for $179. We wanted to get a simple sound bar so it wasn't massive on the mantle, easy to mount, had good sound because the TV's speakers (LG LB5200 65", 2014 model) are on the back and the audio goes up the walls and into the loft upstairs.

Well we plugged in and it already sounds better so we are happy with the sound! We disabled audio from the TV and we have it plugged in via Coaxial as the LG LB5200 does not have an Optical Audio.

As soon as we got it working, the first thing we realized is "oh god, another remote, and this is tiny. We are going to lose this thing in 48 hours." So I started searching, how can I use my current TV remote to control the audio of the Bose Soundbar? I came across this article which I soon realized was for the "Bose TV Speaker" product, not the soundbar.

Are there any recommendations on how to control the volume of this soundbar without having a third remote lying around? For reference, we only use the original LG TV Remote to manage inputs and local channels, and the Roku Ultra remote for Roku related things. (I did check and Roku Remote cannot control other devices like soundbars).

For now, I'm considering taping this to the back of the LG TV remote just so it doesn't get lost.

It's highly likely I'll have to use optical. As of this moment writing this I'm unsure if my TV has an HDMI eARC - I'll check when I get the chance and update.

EDIT: confirmed I don’t have eARC ports. Just the optical. So my assumptions of the entry level probably makes sense.

The Sony sound great to me on paper, and has reviewed well. Review comparing to the Sonos Beam was interesting.

My set up mainly runs out of an Apple TV 4K. TV itself is not 4k. I just sold my Pioneer home theatre, of which the amp connected everything and the sound was amazing. But kids and space and downsizing.

With the optical connection in mind, it seems like it makes more sense to forgo Dolby Atmos features, and go with the lower priced options. Sonos having wifi capabilities and app EQ configuration is appealing. The S2000 speaker arrangement and built-in subs along with optical connection is this higher tier choice with potential superior sound range.

It's hard to get any seasoned reviews on the Bose Solo. So while Black Friday deals are in play, both the Sonos Ray and Bose Solo are cheap as chips - overall all of the above are at very great prices.

Any thoughts welcome.

May 2, 2022 - If you are adamant that you want a standalone bar because you live in a small space or apartment just get the Sonos beam Gen 2 is even cheaper and better. ... When you’re a professional and you’re able to compare to the best.. average speakers don’t stack up.. If you don’t know what good really sounds like.. ok sounds good. ... I had the Bose and I liked it but had to return it for one flaw. It kept turning itself off. Any span of silence turned it off. Drove us nuts. ... Never purchased a soundbar before.

I know I am not the only one who has this issue but why did the person who designed this specific product decide that having an on/off switch was not necessary. The remote is the smallest remote and easily lost.

I officially lost lost the remote and have not been able to find it for over a month, i purchased a universal remote and alas you need to turn the device on to pair it which... YOU CAN'T.

Of course when i reached out to Bose directly they guided me towards a remote directly from their website, albite its 14 dollars but it seems like such a scam for a higher end product to not have basic functions.

Edit * the remote is sold out and they don't offer any other option to assist other then wait until its restocked. Yall...

r/bose on Reddit: Solo soundbar II not working correctly
August 6, 2024 -

Got a Solo Soundbar II for christmas. Attached all the wires correctly. Sound plays through the soundbar when watching local TV channels. But if I try to switch to any HDMI source no sound plays. I’m using an optical cable to connect the device to the tv. I’ve been through the trouble shooting on the Bose site and have not gotten it to work correctly still. Then talked to customer support and got ghosted in the message. Tried setting it up on a different tv and still had the same issue. Does anyone have any experience or fix for this?

June 18, 2025 - It’s been the perfect little soundbar for my PS5pro gaming rig with a mini sub ... I’m happy it works for you and bet it sounds better with a sub. I picked up a Beam Gen 2 for $200 vs Ray @ $179. They are leagues apart in sound quality so the value isn’t there for me.
