r/bose on Reddit: Couldn’t resist the green flex speaker. Nice middle-ground addition to the family
January 15, 2024 -

So my soundlink flex finally just got here after a long shipping delay from bose. I love the green and how it compliments my headphones (Bose quietcomfort 2023) and my phone so I just had to have it. I’m a sucker for green. I’m already familiar with the sound signature so I knew what I was getting. The revolve+ II (left) is still the reigning champion, but the flex is a nice middle-ground between the Revolve and the Micro and it’s gorgeous to look at. It sounds exactly like them but it has more punch to the bass than the revolve. But the revolve is just bigger and more open and loud. I have both of them linked up now in Stereo Mode left & right and they sound awesome together.

I really like that it has an IP67 water rating, just like the micro, so there’s literally no worries by the pool or in the washroom showering and shaving. I have to be a more cautious with the Revolve with its IP65 rating. And I love that it (flex) has a metal grill on the front and nice soft silicone (or rubber?) on the rest of the body. Feels nice, just like the micro.

I caught Bose 2 weeks ago with a false advertisement on their home page, so I confronted customer service and made them honour their false ad since the price they advertised wasn’t actually reflected in the cart. So I got 2 flex’s for a stupidly low price.

r/Bluetooth_Speakers on Reddit: Is anyone else disappointed by the Bose Soundlink Flex Bluetooth ?
November 12, 2023 -

Hi all,

I needed a compact bluetooth speaker, and had little time to study my options. After speaking to a few people, I chose the BOSE Soundlink Flex Bluetooh - in part because I trusted the Bose brand.

I am a bit disappointed by the sound, and wanted to see if I'm being too harsh, or if other people had the same experience.

Main issues:

- bass is boomy. Way too loud, and not terribly precise. A bit messy.

- treble is not very well defined either

I listen mostly prog rock / metal, so very guitar and saturation heavy, so that is a hard benchmark. But still, it's a bit of a mess. It's good but not great.

In comparison, my iLoud Micro Monitor fare much better (granted, they are twice the budget, and not portable. Also they're supposed to be studio monitor, not really portable speakers).

Is it :

- that my ears are bad ?

- that I should use some equalizer ?

- that Bose invests a lot in marketing and not much in products and that I should have kept to a lesser-known brand with a better reputation (such as Focal) ?

Thanks
