The bar creates a high and wide sound field and depending on your room, you may not even feel the need for the surrounds. The surrounds are terribly outdated and are sonic mismatches to Bose's atmos soundbars. Also, there's the wires and external power brick that are basically 10 year old technology. Hi everyone!

I'm reaching out to this community in hopes of getting some guidance on my current audio setup. I'm the proud owner of a Bose Portable Smart Speaker, which I absolutely adore, as well as a Bose SoundLink Revolve that I've had since 2019. My goal is to achieve that immersive surround sound experience, but I'm struggling to seamlessly connect these two devices.

Lately, the SoundLink Revolve has been making some "error" noises when I try to use it with the Smart Speaker, and it might be because it's getting a bit old. Moreover, its smaller size compared to the Smart Speaker doesn't help much in creating the ultimate surround sound situation.

I'm contemplating whether I should purchase another Bose Portable Smart Speaker, hoping that pairing identical devices would facilitate a better connection and thus a better surround sound experience. Does anyone have experience with pairing two of these, and would that solve my issue?

Additionally, I'm considering adding a subwoofer to the mix to enrich the sound. Would a Bose subwoofer connect easily with my current speakers? Has anyone tried integrating a subwoofer into a similar setup?

I would appreciate any advice or experiences you can share, especially from those who have navigated similar setups. Thanks in advance for your help!

TL;DR: I'm trying to enhance my surround sound system with my Bose Portable Smart Speaker and an older SoundLink Revolve, but facing connectivity issues and an imbalance in sound. Considering buying another Portable Smart Speaker and possibly a subwoofer. Looking for advice on the setup and connectivity with Bose products.

As far as I know, you can only group smart speakers together. As for adding a sub, that's no as well. If you want to stick with Bose and use a sub, you'll need to get a Bose soundbar and pair it with a Bose bass module.

Use the Bose Music app to play sound on the smart speaker and use the app's Group > Simplesync feature to connect the Revolve to smart speaker using Bluetooth.

Hi y'all,

A complete newbie for audio systems here trying to set up my (first) 'surround' sound system for my living room. I am planning on adding to my current Bose 300 subwoofer. I am open to replacing the soundbar with something superior (higher definition and distribution of sound) such as Bose Smart Ultra soundbar, and add two standing Bose 700 Surround speakers, or Accoustimass. I am not sure which combination is technically doable and how it would sound.

If you have ever built a 'surround' sound system by mixing different Bose speakers, which items did you use? Any issues adding each piece on the app? How does your system sound? Any other tips? Here to learn. Thank you!
