I’ve been wondering—does anyone know if Bose has any plans to release a Wave V? The Wave series was such a solid speaker, especially for a compact, bookshelf-style setup. It had great sound quality, and I really miss having something like it in their current lineup.
Has there been any news or rumors about a new version? Or has Bose completely moved on from the Wave series?

What would be great is if Bose recognized the iconic look, but reimagined it smaller with an LED display and WiFi / Bluetooth built in. The form factor looks great, could very likely be reduced at least a little, and could easily have the newest connectivity by default. Some companies would kill to have such an iconic product in their portfolio, why Bose won’t reimagine it is beyond me.

They’ve switched to connected and Bluetooth speakers that are even more compact and provide more features and better quality. The old Wave systems are retired.

I would like to add Bluetooth functionality to progress beyond early 2000's tech, and add CD playing functionality as well. I had heard over recent years of Bose Wave systems which although expensive would fit the bill. Surprisingly, they seem to be discontinued. More on bogleheads.org
Is the Wave Music System iv Being Discontinued?
I hope so. They're not even worth it at $499 let alone $599. 2000's technology, no physical buttons, so you're a slave to the remote. You have to buy an FM antenna separately as well as a bluetooth adapter. Even then, the audio quality from the bluetooth adapter will sound mediocre on the system. I prefer the sound of the Home Speaker 500 better and that speaker is cheaper than the Wave at $379. More on reddit.com

Products get discontinued all the time making way for newer and better ones. It's more shocking that the Acoustic Wave lasted 33 years tbh. We may see something similar in the future but it certainly won't have a CD player. Wave Guide technology is used in most Bose products and the SoundTouch 20 is pretty much identical internally to the Wave Music System, just upright instead of flat. Bose use similar technologies in nearly all of there products so don't be bummed that they've discontinued the Acoustic Wave because there is products that use its technology and sound as good if not better. Another interesting one is that the Bass unit from the VideoWave is used in the car audio systems to make a compact subwoofer.
