It’s definitely not your typically, over the top, extra cheese Christmas movie. It’s a little bit slower moving and there are a lot of characters but I enjoyed it! For Leigh’s first movie I think she fit the roll perfectly.
The rawness in her emotions and how she portrayed Georgia was heartbreaking. And maybe it’s because I went through a similar thing this year, that I really resonated with her performance.
But the part that got me was her cover of Say A Little Prayer in the club thing about 1/3rd of the way in the movie. She actually recorded it live during the scene and the amount of emotion she is able to portray in her singing and expression was impeccable. You could feel the heartbreak and love with every breathe.
15/10 recommend at least looking up that scene. It made the movie for me.

I thought it was both funny and thoughtful. Leigh was perfect for the role of Georgia. As an Black American Mixer, I truly appreciated the glimpse into Black British culture and holiday traditions. Also, whenever they release the soundtrack( what’s the hold up), it will be fire. The music really frames this film nicely. I’ve already recommended it to a bunch of my girlfriends. 10/10 stars for me.
