A lot has changed since then, and I just learned that crib bumpers are no longer recommend for use. I so appreciate everyone who responded to my story poll about releasing a new tutorial for these. Actually, most of you said to still share it and let people decide how and when to use it, which I might still do just to show how to make this pattern. Do some parents still choose to use bumpers? Yes. Should extra precaution be used? Yes. However, since learning that bumpers are not recommended due to safety reasons, I don’t feel comfortable making and selling them going forward. I’ve read some posts of similar babies doing this and people suggesting crib bumpers… but MANY people saying any type of crib bumper is unsafe due to suffocating risk. What about a braided bumper? There are no strings, no mesh, no loose fabric. What would the risks be?
