This is what I got as my starter grinder a year ago paired with my bambino plus. Despite what I heard on this sub, a lot of expert reviews claimed it punched above its weight and rivalled a lot of expensive machines. I’ve liked it, and how it’s user friendly for a beginner. Also like how it can adjust to drip and French press which I don’t think a lot of the fancier pricey ones do. I can’t compare it to anything else but my drinks taste good. Here are the settings I use:
-
for espresso: 6 - 8
-
for aeropress: 6-10 (lighter roasts closer to 6, medium - 10, otherwise I find my coffee underextracted using the inverted method)
-
for turkish: 1 (it's good enough, but my turkish hand grinder still produces much finer grind and thus better coffee)
-
for french press: 60 (just make sure total extraction time is around 6 minutes)
I do 1:16 ratio for french press (6 minute brew time), and I prefer 1:3.25 for espresso (I guess, that theoretically makes it a lungo).
Never measured the ratio for aeropress. But it's 16g coffee with aeropress filled to the top with water, and 1.5 minutes brew time.
