Overall this is a buy it for life suitcase and extremely high quality, very durable, and huge internal capacity because the handles are on the outside. I have the carry on size. I respect the brand and anyone who has the disposable income to afford one, but how are you all justifying spending that much on a suitcase? I've done my fair share of work travel and managed to get by with one of the Victorinox cheap-o's from Target for a number of years and it held up just fine... I still can't get myself to spend more than $80 on a suitcase (considering I can find ones that do the job just fine at Marshalls and whatnot), even after so many years of carry-on/checked bag travel. Can you keep it expanded? Or is it designed to expand and compress back to its default size? Seems like a lot of room I could use only just to push it down. I imagine a luggage filled with compression packing cubes would be too firm to really push it down much which is why im asking. Do you find compression packing cubes to still be helpful with this luggage or are they redundant? The bag compresses by reducing by 30%. Compression cubes themselves already compress down by 15-30%.

(Hi from the future!) Did you figure out if you can keep the Baseline expanded? It’s really nice to get so much more space, but if it’s kept expanded seems like it would get checked and can’t find a response to that question online.
