I have a Briggs and Stratton mower that I’m trying to get running. I’m a novice to engine repair but have given it my best shot.
History on the mower:
-
Bought maybe 8 years ago by my fiance and she used it for a few years.
-
She stored it at her parents shop for a few years.
-
We picked up the mower last fall as we moved into our new house.
-
Mower didn’t start last fall. I replaced spark plug and cleaned the carburetor. Doing this made it run for about 1 yard cycle.
-
Mower died again last fall so I replaced the carburetor. After replacing, the mower ran perfect.
-
I stored the mower in my garage for the winter. I emptied gas prior to storage.
-
I am now taking it out of storage and it won’t start. I used new fuel. I replaced the fuel line and added a fuel filter (cause why not). I cleaned the carburetor. After all this - it still won’t run.
-
If I spray some of that ether solution in the air intake of the carburetor, it will run for about 2 seconds and die.
I’m not really sure what the issue is. I feel like I have checked everything replaced just about every part in the mower. I haven’t changed the oil but it still looks clear and good in my opinion. I’m about ready to throw in the towel and get a new mower but wanted some advice before I do that.
Does anyone have any advice??? Thanks in advanced!
