February 10, 2018 - Essentially, the goal is to slow the deceleration of a child in a crash, which leads to lower forces experienced by the child, which leads to lower risks of serious injuries in collisions. These features aren’t tested by anyone other than Britax, but given Britax’s historical commitment to safety, I’d wager they’ve spent enough time testing them to verify they’re worth using in their seats, and I wouldn’t hesitate to put my child in one of them. In conclusion, while the Marathon ClickTight doesn’t have quite as much room to grow in it when compared to the Advocate ClickTight due to shorter height limits, it’s also a much cheaper seat and quite frankly, a great deal if you’re simply looking for unparalleled ease of use through the ClickTight feature.

October 20, 2023 - Britax car seats come with a v-shaped Versa tether which can be used as a crash indicator, helping parents know if they need to discontinue use of their seat after a collision. Note that the Britax crash policy has specific criteria to determine if a seat needs to be replaced after a crash, even if the tether indicator is still intact. Responding to a follow-up inquiry, Britax informed us that it they had shared test data and information with NHTSA and "confirmed the performance" of ClickTight seats. The company also shared that the problem we noted—that the restraint harness was not securely attached to the hooks on the lower harness anchors—was "an initial assembly issue" affecting all Marathon ClickTight, Boulevard ClickTight and Advocate ClickTight seats manufactured between August 15, 2014 and November 7, 2014.
