Hey guys, brooklinen down comforter all season vs ultra warm. Let me know what you guys think. Also, brooklinen was rated top down by wire cutter and 2 different top 10 sites. It’s $360 on sale. My problem Is that it’s 85% Hutterite duck down and 15% Hutterite feathers compared to Quince 100% down. Quince luxe down looks legit but seems like most people love the brooklinen down. Quince luxe is $379 and the premium is $299.
Or if anyone has any other recommendations let me know .
Thank you!

In the market for a lightweight duvet insert and my top contenders are Buffy, Brooklinen, and Quince. I need it to breathable and not too warming! What would you recommend?
Was looking for honest reviews of the Brooklinen down alternative Comforter and duvet covers. I was looking at the light comforter because I live in SoCal and think the all season may be too hot, I do enjoy fluffier comforters though...
I was also wondering if anyone has tried the Tuft & Needle comforter? It is almost $100 cheaper and is oversized which seems very nice. wondering about build quality and fluffiness while not being overly hot
I recently bought my first comforter and duvet cover set. I bought the Brooklinen washed linen set and the lightweight comforter.
At first my main issue was my sheets shedding, every morning I'd wake up to a ton of blue dust bunnies all over my floor it was driving me nuts, however as I continue washing them the shedding is much less and I was told by the customer reps that this will only continue to improve, while not blown away by the sheets I am ok keeping them.
The comforter is a whole other story. OH MY GOD does it shed, I have white feathers all over my room, on my desk and on my floor, it's to the point that it's affecting my psyche (I'm only slightly exaggerating here). I tried doing the no heat tumble and am out here shaking the comforter every morning before I make my bed but none of that works.
I finally decided enough is enough and got a refund from Brooklinen. Now for the fun part.
I now need a new comforter the main things I am looking for are
No shedding of feathers, I am sick and tired of sweeping my room every single morning only to see dust bunnies again the next day
I am a very hot sleeper so I want something lightweight, maybe cooling but is the effect of cooling negated completely by my duvet cover? In that case something lightweight is the most important.
I'd love some reccomendations on comforters to explore that will help with my two main issues I've faced.
I have a duvet comforter from Brooklinen with Down Alternative. I was going to run it in the wash until I read the tag and saw the symbol advising not to machine wash, and on the other side, it says "spot clean" and "dry clean if needed". I read that dry cleaning is typically not recommended for duvets due to the chemicals, but I'm not sure if the Down Alternative changes that at all. "Dry clean if needed" makes it sound like they recommend not cleaning it at all unless it's truly soiled, like with a spill or something. I always keep it inside a duvet cover that I wash every 1-2 weeks, so the duvet comforter itself is hardly ever exposed. Should I bring it to the dry cleaner anyway?
I know Brooklinen gets a lot of hate on this sub, but seems more focused on sheets. How do people feel specifically about their down comforters?
My Buffy is about 5 years old and has seen better days. I am looking at replacing it during Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale weekend and the Brooklinen down comforter caught my eye.
I have purchased several sets of brooklinen percale sheet sets and down pillows over the years, and always loved the quality. The pillows especially have been a favorite. It’s been about 2 years since I ordered anything and I decided to grab some new plush down pillows and wow. They are horrible.
I actually cannot believe how bad they are, especially considering the HUGE price increase in all of their merchandise since the last time I ordered. They’re totally flat, nothing “plush” about them. What an absolute rip off.
Are there any hot sleepers that have percale recommendations for sheets and suggestions for down pillows that aren’t flat straight out of the box? I’m at a loss.
After seeing BL recommended on this sub time and time again, I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade my sleeping situation with the full set (sheets, pillows, light comforter). First off - the full white set looks great; just like a hotel. Even going to bed is amazing. However, after a few weeks now - in the dead of winter cold - I still keep waking up in a complete sweat pit. The light down comforter is just not working like all the reviews indicated, and even the sheets themselves retain a crazy amount of heat.
I'm thinking it's time to cut my losses and find another set more suited to temperature control / hot sleepers; Looking for some opinions on here for alternative comforters/sheet sets that might fit the bill?
I've considered Buffy and Parachute, among others.
Thanks!
So I've been on a quest to make my bed as comfortable as possible.. I bought a set of brook linen luxe sateen sheets + comforter, it came the other day.. slept on it a few nights now (i washed them once) .. The comforter is nice.. enjoying that. However the sheets, feel a little rough to me? They feel a bit dry and sort of rough.. its still nice in a lot of way but I was expecting more. The pillowcases too, I want my face to be on something thats super soft and slippery.. so I just ordered silk pillowcases. I feel like its not good for my face skin to be on a dry/slightly rough surface all night.
I want really nice SOFT almost slippery and COOL sheets as I tend to sleep a bit hot.. what are some good options? Maybe the brook linen sheets will get softer over time and more washes?

I am losing my mind trying to decide where to buy a new duvet insert. I feel like a lot of the new bedding companies all end up on review lists that are “pay to play.” I am looking for something cooling but also as fluffy as it can be (while still being cooling). I bought the Brooklinen Down All-Season, but at 90” wide, it’s SUPER short for our normal (not California) king, as in, it only falls an inch and a half off the sides of the bed. It’s decently fluffy, but I’m wondering if there’s something better.
Max price is around $400. Any recs are much appreciated!
I’ve been researching for MONTHS (embarrassing, I know) but I’m on the hunt for a luxurious, poofy, fluffy and lofty goose down comforter that’s not too hot. Tomorrow is Black Friday and with the sales coming, it’s going to be time for me to pull the trigger. So many comforters online say they’re luxurious and lofty but the customer photos show them as flat, pancake looking things. I’ve considered Pacific Coast Feathers, Macys Hotel Collection, Cuddledown and a few more. I was considering the Company Store but I read they were bought out and the quality isn’t as good as it used to be. I’d like to spend no more than $300-$350. Can anyone give any recommendations? Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!
I previously made a post here asking for input on some comforter, sheet sets, pillows, and towels I was considering for a new place. I spent a truly concerning amount of time researching technical specs and reading reviews, and finally ordered all of the pieces. Now that they've come I wanted to share what I bought and my first-impressions (all positive so far!) so that hopefully others can avoid the crazy amount of research I did. I would hope that this goes without saying but to anticipate the flood of comments I've generally received when offering a positive review, no, I wasn't offered a free products or an incentive for this review. I paid for all of these items and get nothing other than Reddit Karma for reviewing.
I decided to buy some bamboo sheets here. The sense I got was that while higher quality cotton sheets are better than higher quality bamboo sheets, cheaper bamboo can have similar softness and durability to mid- to high-end cotton. Received them and feel great about the choice. Super soft, surprisingly breathable, and have held up great without pilling through the first wash. Went to a couple shops in the mall and felt bamboo sheet sets than ran over $150 and these felt substantially softer and more breathable. Can update later on for durability.
For towels and duvet covers, I opted to go with Brooklinen. I was rather apprehensive about doing so because I don't particularly like the company for their over-advertising and apparent review manipulation. The product, however, was great. For the duvet cover, I went mostly based off reviews from The Wirecutter which put theirs at the top of the list. I went with the lux option which was only around $10 more and it gave what previously felt like a relatively flat down comforter a very cloud-like feel because of how soft and breathable it was. I tried out the LL Bean duvet cover in-store and Brooklinen's turned out to be substantially softer and has better stitching. For towels, I was initially planning on going with Frontgate, as they topped the Wirecutter's list, but their bath sheets were a bit more money than I wanted to spend and the offsite reviews for Brooklinen's towels seemed comparable. I split the order into multiple smaller orders that were just above $50 so I could use the $25 of $50 referral code multiple times which made them fairly reasonably priced. These are probably my favorite of all of the items I purchased. Softer and more plush than any hotel towel I've ever used, super absorbent, and didn't seem to get very wet so the plushness wasn't an issue for drying. I don't know that they're better than Frontgate since I wasn't able to try them, but the coupon plus free-shipping makes the Brooklinen ones noticeably cheaper. The referral link I used which I found on some other Reddit comment (not mine) is here.
I once again trusted The Wirecutter for pillows and went with the Parachute standard soft down pillow. I went with the soft option because I'm a stomach sleeper and it's incredible. Stays super cool during the night, compresses enough that my back isn't at a weird angle, and the seems look much stronger so I feel more confident about these not leaking feathers. At $60, it's uncharacteristically cheap for down pillows given Parachute's usually higher prices. I would definitely recommend this for any other stomach sleepers, though if you need a firmer pillow for other sleeping positions they do get more expensive pretty fast.
I also decided to buy a down comforter from Pacific Coast, which is the supplier for the Costco comforter that is now sold out which was the Wirecutter's top budget pick. Shipping on this one is a bit slower so I can't yet offer feedback but I'll be sure to update with more info once it arrives.
Hope this info is helpful, happy to answer any questions
I don't know about Brooklinen's over-advertising or review manipulation. Just here to confirm Brooklinen makes a damn good product (Luxe sheets/duvet/pillow cases). I think they are far superior to Snowe's percale products, which are also highly rated and more expensive.
Just to add for people who may not like down for their comforter, I highly recommend the silk comforters that Costco sells. I forget the brand off the top of my head, but the silk comforter breaths so much better than down, and is generally lighter and more comfortable for those of us who sleep hot.
