r/readbeforebuying on Reddit: High-performance: Brother MFC-L3780CDW Review - Top AIO Printer?
November 26, 2024 -

Looking for a reliable all-in-one printer for your small business or home office? I recently got my hands on the Brother MFC-L3780CDW, and it's been a game-changer for my daily printing needs.

*Update* This is the Amazon link we bought from that had a limited time discount. Click to see if it's still available

This wireless color printer does it all - print, copy, scan, and fax. I've been really impressed with the laser-quality output. My documents come out crisp and professional-looking every time. The print speeds are fast too, churning out up to 31 pages per minute for both color and black and white.

I love the 3.5" touchscreen - it makes it so easy to navigate settings and switch between tasks. The single-pass duplex scanning is a huge time-saver when I need to copy or scan double-sided documents. And with built-in Wi-Fi, I can print from my phone or laptop without any hassle.

One thing to note is that it's a bit on the heavy side at nearly 48 pounds. But for me, the print quality and features make up for it. The toner can be pricey, but Brother offers a subscription service that can help save money in the long run.

Bottom Line

If you need a workhorse printer that can handle all your office tasks, the Brother MFC-L3780CDW is worth checking out. Its speed, quality, and features have really boosted my productivity.

Overview of the Brother MFC-L3780CDW Wireless All-in-One Printer

I've been using this Brother printer for a while now, and it's a solid choice for small offices. It prints quickly at 31 pages per minute for both color and black and white. The print quality is crisp and professional-looking.

One feature I really like is the single-pass duplex scanning. It saves me time when I need to copy or scan double-sided documents. The 3.5" touchscreen is easy to use too.

Connectivity options are great. I can print wirelessly from my phone or connect via Ethernet. The printer even has NFC for secure printing.

While it's not the cheapest option, I think the Brother MFC-L3780CDW offers good value for its features. The toner costs can add up, but there's a subscription service to help manage that. Overall, it's a reliable workhorse for busy small businesses.

Laser-Quality Output

The print quality on this Brother all-in-one really impresses me. Let's take a closer look at how it performs for document printing.

Pristine Document Printing

I'm amazed by how sharp and clear my documents look coming out of this printer. The text is crisp and easy to read, even when printing small fonts. Color graphics and charts pop off the page with vivid, accurate hues. At 2400 x 600 dpi resolution, the level of detail is excellent.

The printer handles both black and white and color jobs equally well at speeds up to 31 pages per minute. That's pretty quick for an office printer. I find the first page comes out in under 13 seconds, which is nice when I'm in a hurry.

For professional-looking reports and presentations, this Brother delivers laser-quality results I can count on. The print quality rivals what I'd expect from much pricier machines.

All-in-One Functionality

The MFC-L3780CDW packs a punch with its versatile capabilities. I found it impressive how this machine handles multiple office tasks in one compact unit.

Print, Copy, Scan, and Fax with Ease

I was able to print, copy, scan, and fax without switching devices. The printer churns out 31 pages per minute for both color and black-and-white jobs. Scanning is quick too, at 29 images per minute for black-and-white and 22 for color.

The single-pass duplex feature for copying and scanning saved me time. I didn't have to flip pages manually. The 250-sheet paper tray was enough for my daily needs. When I needed to print on envelopes or card stock, the machine handled it well.

The touchscreen made it simple to switch between functions. I could also control the printer from my phone using the Brother app. This came in handy when I wanted to print something while away from my desk.

Efficient Printing Speeds

I've been really impressed with how quickly this Brother laser printer churns out pages. It's a real time-saver in my home office setup.

Fast Output for Busy Workflows

The MFC-L3780CDW prints up to 31 pages per minute for both color and black and white jobs. That's fast enough to keep up with my busiest days. I can print a 30-page report in about a minute. The first page comes out in less than 12.5 seconds too, so there's barely any wait to grab that quick one-page print job.

The speed stays consistent whether I'm printing text documents or color graphics. This printer handles it all without slowing down. The automatic duplex printing is a nice touch - it prints both sides of the page quickly without me having to flip the paper manually.

For big print jobs, the 250-sheet paper tray means I'm not constantly refilling paper. When I need to print a lot, this Brother keeps up the pace without making me babysit it.

Advanced Security Features

The MFC-L3780CDW takes data protection seriously. I was impressed by its robust security measures that go beyond basic password protection. This printer is built to safeguard sensitive information in office environments.

Protect Sensitive Documents

I found the secure print feature especially useful. It lets me send confidential documents to the printer and hold them until I enter a PIN at the machine. This prevents private info from sitting in the output tray where others might see it.

The printer also has built-in network security protocols to encrypt data sent wirelessly. This gave me peace of mind when printing from my phone or laptop. For extra protection, I could restrict certain functions or limit access to specific users.

While these features add layers of security, they can make initial setup a bit more complex. But I think the tradeoff is worth it for keeping sensitive business documents safe. The MFC-L3780CDW delivers solid protection without sacrificing ease of use for day-to-day printing tasks.

Eco-Friendly Printing Options

I was pleased to find some good eco-friendly features on this Brother printer. It has automatic duplex printing, which saves paper by printing on both sides. This helps cut down on waste and is great for the environment. The printer also uses toner instead of ink, which typically lasts longer and produces less waste. I noticed energy-saving modes that reduce power use when the printer isn't active. While not perfect, these options definitely make it a more eco-conscious choice compared to many other printers I've used. The ability to digitally scan and share documents also cuts down on unnecessary printing. Overall, I felt good about the green features this model offers for a home or small office setting.

Flexible Connectivity

I found the connectivity options on this Brother printer to be really convenient. It has built-in Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and USB ports, so I could easily connect it to my home network or directly to my computer. The wireless printing worked great from my phone and laptop. There's even NFC for quick pairing with compatible devices. I liked being able to print from anywhere in my house without dealing with cords. The printer also works with popular cloud services and mobile apps for printing on the go. Overall, the flexible connection choices made it simple to set up and use in my home office setup.

Pros and Cons

I've been using the Brother MFC-L3780CDW for a while now, and it's been quite the experience. This all-in-one printer has some solid strengths but also a few drawbacks. Let's break it down.

Pros

  • The print quality is impressive. Every page comes out crisp and clear, whether it's color or black and white.

  • It's fast. I can print up to 31 pages per minute, which is great when I'm in a rush.

  • The scanner is quick too. Single-pass duplex scanning saves me a lot of time.

  • Setup was a breeze. I had it up and running in no time.

  • Connectivity options are plentiful. I can print from anywhere using Wi-Fi or connect directly via USB.

  • The toner subscription service is handy. I don't have to worry about running out of toner anymore.

Cons

  • It's big. This printer takes up a good chunk of space on my desk.

  • The initial cost is high compared to basic inkjet printers.

  • Toner can be expensive, even with the subscription service.

  • It's a bit noisy when printing, which can be annoying in a quiet office.

  • The touchscreen could be more responsive. I sometimes have to tap multiple times.

  • Color prints use up toner quickly, so I try to stick to black and white when I can.

This Brother printer is a solid choice for small businesses or home offices that print a lot. It's reliable and feature-rich, but the size and cost might not suit everyone's needs.

Customer Reviews Analysis

I've been using the Brother MFC-L3780CDW for a while now, and customer feedback lines up with my experience. Many users praise its easy setup and pairing with multiple devices. The print quality, especially for color and black-and-white documents, gets high marks. Double-sided printing is a big hit.

Some highlights: • Great for home offices • Reliable alternative to cheap inkjet printers • Impressive print quality • User-friendly interface

On the flip side, a few users mention it uses toner quickly. Shipping times can be long in some areas.

Overall, people seem happy with this printer's performance and features. It's a solid choice for those needing a dependable, feature-rich printer for home or small office use.

Conclusion

I'm thoroughly impressed with the Brother MFC-L3780CDW. It's a solid choice for anyone needing a reliable all-in-one printer. The laser-quality output and duplex features are standout advantages. I found the wireless setup quick and the print quality excellent. While it may be pricier upfront, the long-term value is clear. The color prints are vivid, and black-and-white documents are sharp. I appreciate the user-friendly interface and the variety of connectivity options. The toner usage seems a bit high, but that's expected for a color laser printer. I'm glad I made this purchase and can confidently say it's a great fit for both home offices and small businesses.

r/printers on Reddit: Brother MFC-L3770CDW vs MFC-L3780CDW
November 13, 2023 -

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with the Brother MFC-L3780CDW?

I see the Brother MFC-L3770 recommended a lot on this sub but it looks like maybe that printer is on its way out replaced by the MFC-L3780.

Looking at the specs I don't see any functional differences that would matter to me. The 3780 seems to come with slightly higher capacity cartridges and slightly faster print speed in a slightly smaller design.

I'm assumed the quality of the 3780 is pretty much going to be the same as the 3770. Seems like options would be a refurbished 3770 for $400 or a new 3780 for $500.

I'm just checking if anyone has any thoughts or experience on this new printer from Brother?

Edit: MFC-L3780CDW 1 year update - Haven't experienced any problems with printing, scanning, copying, or connection; still on the factory toner. This is what the unit is reporting in the maintenance page:

Pages printed: 322 Color / 109 B&W / 431 Total

Toner Life Remaining: 70% Color / 80% Black

Drum, Fuser, Belt, and Feeding Kit Life Remaining: 98%-100%
