If I were you, I will return the new printer as soon as possible and buy the old generation MFC-L3770CDW because it is still available on Amazon. It uses TN227 toner cartridges which cost less than $20 per cartridge. It’s definitely a wise choice in the long run. I am sorry to say that it means there is a "hardware problem". Sorry that you are having this error message. Since you just turn the printer on and it is new then I suggest you can exchange the printer where you bought it from if applicable period. If it worked before and you didn't get this message and it's passed the return period then call Brother. I just recently bought the Brother HL-L3295CDW and when I first got the machine it says "Cannot Print 1D". My problem was with the drum it's not detecting or something I forgot. I called brother and they will want to know are you using a genuine cartridge or a 3rd party cartridge. Then they want you to read "ALL the SERIAL Numbers for the Brother cartridges. They will tell you to turn the machine on and off several time. If it still persist then they will either tell you send it back or bring it to the nearest Brother authorized dealer. I told them that I was still in my exchange period and they said OK you can exchange where you bought the printer from since you are still under the exchange period. After I receive the exchange I had no problems at all thank goodness. Did you just purchase this during the holidays. If yest then you can exchange for new one because probably you still have the "extended exchange/return period". If you purchase the printer before the holiday then you will have to go through Brother for warranty.
