find a way to get access to the plan's Summary Plan Description (SPD) either from the administrator or a former colleague or the nice HR people, and quickly turn to the section that details the plan's appeals process. Or just contact the Employee Benefits Security Administration , a unit of the federal Department of Labor, and invite THEM to join you on a 3-way call with the bozos who told you they needn't provide you plan info in writing. If you look on the bswift site, you can change the date and check when your benefits are in effect. I also think when you got the benefits confirmation email it tells you. I think it's something like your 31st day or the 1st day of the following month after you started. But I would double check the bswift site. Hope things work out! More on reddit.com
