15 DIY Bathroom Remodel Ideas: Easy Makeover on a Budget
May 28, 2025 - Focus on small areas like the backsplash or a single accent wall instead of tiling the whole bathroom. Buy extra sheets only during sales or use offcuts creatively. You can make the vanity stand out by repainting it in a bold or classic shade. For an added touch, consider replacing the countertop with a budget-friendly alternative like laminate.

What budget renovations would you make to update my bathroom?
Paint the walls, new rug, new mirror, little things like soap dispenser, towels, style whatever your interest are. The cabinets honestly aren’t bad you can update other things to work around them, as for colors, here’s an ai example ignore the slight floor change but the color would be beautiful with the wood. Redoing a tiny bathroom, and need some space saving design ideas.
Trust me. Buy this vanity. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Glacier-Bay-Del-Mar-30-in-W-x-19-in-D-Bath-Vanity-in-White-with-AB-Engineered-Composite-Vanity-Top-DMSD30P2COM-W/100672710 I have the 36" version. its the most spatially efficient vanity I've ever seen. Only 12" at the cabinets and flares to 18" at the bowl. I think you will regret filling that whole room up with cabinets. I support the in stud medicine cabinet / shelves if that can work. If it were me I'd try to make it as open and airy as possible. This is not the bathroom for real storage. I'm thinking open shelves over the toilet and I would get non frosted glass for the top sash of the window if at all possible. I would also paint the wall a lighter color. Now for the final (bit crazy) idea. If I was going to live here forever I would go as far as adding a transom window to the hallway. You have the ceiling height and I'm assuming this is an old house because of that. Sucks that the original door casings are gone but prime opportunity to add a transom guilt free. You could even frost it a bit if wanted but it should be so tall no one could see inside without a chair. More on reddit.com

r/DesignMyRoom on Reddit: What budget renovations would you make to update my bathroom?
November 17, 2024 -

Hi all! My boyfriend and I have two bathrooms that look like this. I’m comfortable painting the walls myself, and I’m considering a very light blue (right now they are a gray purple).

The house is from the very early 2000s, and I don’t believe this bathrooms have been updated since then.

I have only rented in the past, so I’m really struggling with what to do about the floors, cabinets, and sink.

The lighting is not great in this photo, but the sink is kind of an off yellowish white.

If my budget is say a couple thousand dollars, what would you all recommend? E.g. Re-staining or completely replacing the cabinets?

I would also have nowhere to begin on the floors.

For reference, I’m a fan of things that are on the vintage/Victorian side. My boyfriend owns this house so the issue is more so budget than what we’re able to do.

Thank you so much in advance!

r/HomeImprovement on Reddit: Redoing a tiny bathroom, and need some space saving design ideas.
September 17, 2017 -

So the overall dimensions of this tiny bathroom are 5'x6'8". More details on that in the pics included in this album: https://imgur.com/a/0dGBd

As you can see, there's not much space to work with here. Unfortunately this tiny bathroom has no room for knocking down walls to increase its size. This was already done to make a tiny kitchen larger on the side where you see the sink. The wall with the window and back wall of the tub are exterior walls so no room for expansion there either. I know I can gain more square footage by removing the tub, and putting in a shower stall, but I heard that this hurts the resale value quite a bit. Regarding the tub, would sliding glass doors give the appearance of a larger room? A shower curtain seems to divide the room quite a bit and give it a closed-in feel. Also, to create more space, I was going to change the door to swing outwardly into the hallway, or perhaps a sliding type door.

I suspect a minimalist design would be preferable as it should give the appearance of a larger room. I might be wrong and am certainly open to other suggestions. I'm guessing lots of lighting and bright whites would help in this regard as well. Given the small size of the room and that I will be tackling most of this myself, I really don't think cost will be much of an issue. 3 or 4 thousand bucks should be more than enough I would think, but I would happily spend more if it got me a really good finished product. I like to think I'm pretty handy and love acquiring new skills, but I don't have a great eye for design. This where I need your help to bust out some space-saving-design-kung-fu.

Looking forward to your feedback. Thanks in advance :)

Man, you are right. Space is a premium in there. OK. Here are a couple of ideas. Over the toilet, create some storage: http://www.homedepot.com/p/RiverRidge-Home-Ellsworth-27-9-25-in-W-x-63-7-10-in-H-x-9-1-4-in-D-2-Door-Over-the-Toilet-Storage-Cabinet-in-Espresso-06-032/204671830 Then replace the mirror with a medicine cabinet: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Glacier-Bay-24-in-W-x-25-in-H-Framed-Surface-Mount-Tri-View-Bathroom-Medicine-Cabinet-in-White-T24-WH-B/100559539 The last idea is to break into the walls, and put storage between the studs. You can make them yourself, or buy pre-made cabinets with doors on them: http://www.instructables.com/id/Built-in-Bathroom-Shelves/ https://www.amazon.com/American-Pride-9836WB1AR-Recessed-Polished/dp/B009G4EKBG Note: The door is available as a mirror, or as wood. Love the shower curtain......
