I don't like the feel of mechanical keyboards since I need to fully lift finger to prevent it from hitting any adjacent keys. I like the keyboard of the Acer Nitro 5 laptop since I can "glide or slide" over to the next key.
Keychron k7 seems good, but it's 5K which is to expensive.
Needs to be wireless or bluetooth, I don't like cable management.
No "gamer aesthetics" because they're cringey and to try hard in my eyes. Examples one two
Backlight if possible.
I deal apperance.
I currently have the lofree 100 lite and I like the keyboard, but I constantly mistype on it and I can't find the arrow keys consistently, causing some significant frustrations. I switched the stock keycaps for some Nuphy ones, but that has still not solved the issues with mistyping and arrow key locating.
Given this, I was thinking of transitioning to a full-size keyboard with more width between the keys and an easier time finding the arrow keys. What are some good contenders for this criterion?
Videos
Type: 75% 84 key compact (alternatively barebones)
Profile: Low profile
Features: RGB lighting, Hot swap (optionally QMK/VIA)
Connectivity: 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth, Wired
Mounting: Would be great addition if it had Gasket mount for quieter typing but it's not needed
Design: Frame similar to NuPhy Air75 V2 to prevent dust accumulation
Price: < $100
I have failed multiple times to find anything and I feel like I'd need to pay luxury just to get some decent keyboard
I've had a mechanical keyboard for quite a while now, but there was always something about it that bothered me compared to the cheapo membrane keyboard that my parents own: The height of the keys making me have to lift my fingers more than I'd like to.
But I've recently found out that something like a "low profile" mechanical keyboard exists, which seems to be exactly what I need. However, I have trouble finding the right low-profile keyboard.
I would like a keyboard that matches these requirements (roughly in order of importance):
Low profile
A full keyboard with all the keys, including the TenKeys, like this, ideally with this spacing
Mechanical or HE doesn't matter too much to me, as long as it's linear
Backlit, but I don't mind if it's RGB or just white
I don't care about any lighting profiles; in fact, I'd rather not have to install auxiliary software
I also don't care about any clicky-clacky sounds and would want the keyboard as silent as possible
Preferably black or at least a dark color
Media and/or sound volume keys are not required, but would be nice
Preferably a price below €300
I've been looking for a while, but my searches are surprisingly coming up short. I'm admittedly somewhat of a noob when it comes to keyboards, so maybe I just don't know where to look or what exactly to look for
If anyone could help me out with some recommendations, I'd really appreciate it!
Hi All,
I'm struggling to find a 100% low profile mechanical keyboard that isn't made by Keychron. I would prefer to avoid them if possible after reading all of the support horror stories.
The only other keyboard which I have found that seems to be an option is the Lowfree flow 100 which sadly doesn't come in a uk layout.
What I'm looking for:
Must:
Be full sized UK layout Function wired
Nice to have: Hot swappable key switches Replaceable cable Backlight
Many thanks for taking the time to read this post!
Does anyone have any recommendations for low profile mechanical keyboards that aren't Keychron?
Nothing really wrong with the prices at Keychron, just want to see some other options out there.
my laptops keyboard is dying and its too expensive to just replace the keyboard so i might aswell get a external keyboard that i can continue using once i get a proper pc,
im also in the UK so try keep that in mind, i don't wanna spend like £70 on a keyboard and then some dumb amount for shipping, i like the NuPhy Air75 V2 with the cowberry switches however that ends up at $149.98 which is £112.96 for me and i don't have the money to drop 100 on a keyboard
TLDR under £100, low-profile i don't mind the connection type
Hello
I am creating a brand new setup after moving back to the UK and I'm looking for some recommendations for a keyboard.
-
I would really like low profile, coming from using the Logitech G815 I don't feel like I can go back, really enjoyed it for typing -Mechanical is preferred
-
Full sized as I like a num pad
-
Silent switches something like a silent red or equivalent
-
Under £100 but cheaper the better (so the Logitech G815 is not an option again)
-
Wired
Just looking for the best keyboard with the criteria above for the best price that's suitable for mixed typing and gaming. Some that I've been looking at are Razer either the Deathstalker (on sale I can find it only just within my budget but mixed reviews on the wireless however I would be going for wired anyway still not sure if it's recommended though) and Ornata for the price but it's not mechanical.
Thanks for your advice in advance!
I've been in the market for a new low profile mechanical keyboard. Years back I had the Logitech G815 and liked it for what it was. Switches were okay, keycaps were meh. I ended up selling it as I wanted something smaller from a full keyboard.
I recently bought the Logitech G515 in tactile and have been using it for 2 weeks now. I like the form factor, the switches, the updated keycaps to PBT. However, there has already been a double clicking problem that has developed on the space bar. I believe I read about that issue before buying it too unfortunately. It happens both in the wireless adapter mode and bluetooth. While it doesn't happen all the time. it's annoying enough that I'm considering returning it and searching for something else.
It was tough for me to choose between the Logitech G915X, Razer Deathstalker v2 pro, or the one I ended up going with the Logitech G515. While I do like the TKL format, some other keyboards I was considering is the NuPhy Air75 v2 and the Lofree Flow 84.
I currently also have a Logitech MX Mini and Keychron Q1 that I was looking to sell to consolidate into one keyboard to use for gaming (windows) and work (mac).
Anyone have any recommendations or advice on how to best proceed?
Edit: I went with the Iquinix mq80 and have really enjoyed it thus far!
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for recommendations for a keyboard within a €130 budget (ideally around €110): Here is my use case
Requirements
Fully Linux-compatible
ANSI layout
Low profile (I used to experience wrist pain with my Anne Pro 2, not making that mistake again)
75% (I want the arrow keys to be close, and I need function keys; 80% may be fine too)
Tactile Switches (clickies are too loud, linears may be fine too, though I'm making a lot of typos with them)
Bluetooth connectivity (I'd like to not have anything attached to my laptop, dongle may be fine too)
Nice typing experience (I don't game, I often write code)
Non-requirements
Aestethics (I'm 100% about functionality and experience)
Materials (metal frame is a nice to have, but not too important)
Backlight (not interested)
Hot swappable (if the switches are good, I can just de-solder the broken ones)
Extensive software (I might need just some custom shortcut, nothing too fancy)
What I considered
I live in Italy, so I have trouble getting lofree keyboards at a good price
Keychron is a compelling option, right now I could get a K3 (v2 / v3 / Pro / Max). From other reviewers I can tell that Pro or Max are the best options (though there are still very few v3 around). I'd take the Pro since I wouldn't use the 2.4ghz dongle
The other option is Nuphy: the air 75 v2 is too expensive for me but I can get one within budget from the use market (wisteria switches)
From the used market I can get a Nuphy air 75 v2 (wisteria) at €105, a keychron k3 v2 (tactile, hot swappable) at €85, a k3 pro (tactile, hot swappable) at €100
Thank you in advance for any recommendations!
I'm in the process of creating my first setup for gaming and can't decide what kind of keyboard to get. Im on a tight budget and dont want to spend more than $75 on a keyboard. Does anyone have a suggestion on whether i should get a Regular Mechanical or Low Profile keyboard. Ill be using this keyboard to game about 99% of the time and playing games like Call of Duty and Fortnite. I know regular mechanical keyboards are very popular but im hesitant becasue I'm new to keyboard gaming and not sure how I would like the big bulky keys, thats why Im thinking about a more compact keyboard. Im not even sure if low profile keyboards are even good for competitive gaems like COD and frotnite. I just need some opinions. The only keyboards Ive ever used are laptop keyboards which are much different than mechanical keyboards so I just have no idea. Feel free to ask me any questions. Thanks

Height comparison between low profile mechanical keyboards that you can buy (or cant): https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/irt8yt/height_comparison_between_low_profile_mechanical/
I compiled this list of all low profile mech keyboards that I'm aware of at the time of this post because I didn't find one while I was shopping for one and information was scattered. They are categorized by size first then sorted by price. TKL in this case is 80%.
I don't have plans right now to add kits, keycaps, switches, cases, etc, only fully assembled keyboards.
If you know of any other LP keyboards feel free to let me know and I'll add it to the list. Hopefully this helps anyone interested.
For anyone new to mechanical keyboards be aware that low profile keyboards, while slim, they lack customizability and there is a overall lack of options compared to standard high profile keycap keyboards. This is because no one is selling standardized keycaps, switches and other parts that would be interchangeable with each other. You will find it difficult to find coloured keycaps. In many prebuilts manufacturers make unique switches meaning you can't change out the switches with something else or find keycaps with stems that will fit the switches.
Edit: [group buy ended on 31/7/20]Current limited time group buy available - MorgRie RKB68 blue and white colourway with Kailh choc red, brown or white for $129
Edit 2: Added Vortex Pok3r V2, Filco Ninja Majestouch Stingray, Klim Dash, MorgRie RKB68 Blue. Added 'coloured keycaps' to notes.
Edit 3: Added Cherry G84-5500, G84-4400, G84-4100, G84-5400, G84-5200, G84-4700, Sharkoon full size, Drevo Joyeuse V1, Gamdias P3, MorgRie 17.
Edit 4: Added Keychron K3, new 75% keyboard available to pre-order.
Edit 5: Having used the Keychron K1 V4 for over a year I can't say I'd personally recommend it long term. Worked well for a year then started breaking in 10 different places.

I know of a few that aren't listed. I suggest that you put links on the existing ones you have though.
Motospeed GK81
Cherry G84
Roccat Vulcan series
Also, check out this website: https://www.gboards.ca/ They like low profile there :)
Thanks a lot for this list, super helpful!
Right now I'm using a Ducky2 with browns. It's a beautiful keyboard, but
A) I want to get these wires out of my life
B) I don't like having to use a wrist rest. I used to have the logitech solar keyboard, it was flat enough I didn't need anything. I wouldn't be able to do that with my ducky.
In terms of what I'm looking for
A) I do some gaming. Not a ton, but I do play some Dota2 and Age of Empires 2, and I don't want to lose keystrokes because of a weak signal. Yes I know wired is the best...but can wireless be good enough and do I need a dongle or bluetooth?
B) Would mechanical low profile keys be as flat as the thin chiclet keyboards out there? I'm amenable to optical chiclet keys as well, being able to drop the wrist rest is more important than having pretty keys (though I do appreciate nice keycaps)
C) An aluminum frame seems nice? I don't know, probably not that important, but is a nice to have.
D) Bonus points if it comes w/ a mouse and they can use the same charger, but I imagine I'll be buying that seperately
Hey
I don't have much knowledge in the keyboard world so I was looking for some suggestions.
Currently I am using the HP GK100F and honestly it sucks. the keys are way too loud and tall and it just gets in the way of my hands so I'm looking for something softer and rather low profile not like laptop keys but shorter than the basic gaming mechanical keyboards.
I've been eyeing the Logitech G815 but I've heard mixed opinions about it.
So do you guys have any suggestions on a good quality low profile keyboard that gives me a better experience.
also not a big fan of 60% keyboards so 100% would be ideal and I don't care if its wired or not.
I've been using a cougar core for something like 3 years and the membrane started breaking so I'm finally wanting to cross the step for a mechanical keyboard.
My requirements: First of all, it needs to have the numpad. I have only used 100% but I've seen that apparently 1800 and 96 also have it and I would be open to try it. I use it for normal use, programming and gaming. I do not care at all about rgb and that kind of stuff. In fact, I completely dislike rgb and if I could get a recommendation of a keyboard that is as minimalistic as possible that would be great. I also prefer wired.
My budget is about 100. A bit less or a bit more is fine.
In my investigation I've seen this "keychron" keyboards and they have picked quite some attention in me, however, aparently they are not very well suited for gaming due to input lag. Anything similar that keeps the low profile but is good for gaming too?
Hello there!
I'm on the hunt for a new mechanical keyboard and thought this would be the perfect place to seek advice and recommendations. Here are the specifics of what I'm looking for:
Switch Preference: Low-profile switches, with a preference for brown switches. Size: A 96% layout is ideal for me, though I'm willing to consider 75% keyboards as well.
Keycaps and Layout: Backlit keycaps are essential, as I often work late and need the visibility in low-light conditions. I prefer the ISO-DE layout, but I'm open to ANSI layouts if I can easily reconfigure the keys via software and have the appropriate keycaps for it.
Connectivity: Wireless functionality is important to me, as I need the ability to easily switch between Mac and Windows environments without hassle.
Budget: My budget is around 150€, but there's some flexibility to stretch this if the keyboard is a perfect fit.
I've been eyeing the NuPhy Air 96 as a potential candidate because it ticks most of my boxes. However, I haven't been able to find backlit ANSI-DE keycaps for it, which has been a stumbling block.
I had also considered Keychron keyboards, but I've been deterred by reports of a significant delay (5-10 seconds) when the keyboard wakes up from sleep. These observations come from multiple YouTube videos and blog posts. If anyone has insights on a fix or workaround for this issue, I'm all ears and willing to reconsider.
Given these requirements and preferences, I'd love to hear your suggestions and experiences, especially if you've come across or used keyboards that meet these criteria. Additionally, if you have any tips on where to find backlit ANSI-DE keycaps, that would also be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your help and recommendations!
Looking for recommendations for a good quality membrane or low profile mechanical keyboard.
For the past 4 years my daily driver has been a Logitech G915 (brown switch), however I have unfortunately spilled a beverage on it. Was happy with it, but purchasing a replacement at it's price point is overkill for my needs. (I did not end up using the macro keys, do not need the RGB backlighting, and Lightspeed was a nice to have but I don't game)
What I liked about the G915:
Enjoyable to type on
Responsive (no delay when typing)
What I did not like about the G915:
Body a bit big due to the additional macro keys I was not using
Body tended to be a bit of a dust magnet and keycaps seemed to show my grubby fingerprints (Found it hard to clean)
Not USB C
Main use: Daily driver for working from home - a lot of typing
Devices: Apple MacBook Pro (Intel), Apple MacBook (M1), iPad Pro
Other peripherals: MX Master 3, Beats fit pro
Important features:
Good connectivity (does not randomly lose keystrokes or connectivity)
Responsive (no to minimal delay when typing)
Enjoyable typing experience & facilitates fast typing (95-105 wpm on average)
Reliable - no quality control issues, does not randomly stop working
Good battery life
Fast charging
Ideal size: Full with num pad (but smaller than G915) or 75% TKL
Nice to have:
Wireless / Wired option
Low maintenance easy to clean material
I don't care so much about:
RGB
Backlight
Gaming response speeds
QMK
Hot swappable keys
Reprogrammable
Currently considering (these are all in budget - hoping to stick around this range)
Logitech MX Keys S
Logitech MX Mechanical
Nuphy Air75 v2
Lofree flow
I'm really leaning towards the logitech boards as these usually available in physical stores, which makes any returns or warranty claims easier for me. However I'm not sure why - they seem to have a bad reputation within the keyboard enthusiast community. I have read about many people enjoying Nuphy Air and Lofree flow's typing experience, however I am worried about any latency or reliability issues that may surface.
Hope to hear from any experiences and what your advice would be given my situation. Thank you!
Budget: ~100 Eur
Needs:
Wireless + switch between multiple devices
Low-profile
Comfortable for long typing/programming sessions

Found it fatiguing for long sessions and couldn't match laptop typing speeds
Switch broke after several months
*Sound was fun
Currently considering:

*I left out some of the specifications for the mechanical keyboards as they seemed the same to me but let me know if I missed something.
Conclusion:
I tried to watch videos on the keyboards but I think I am more confused then when I started. Given my limited experience, especially with mechanical keyboards, I was hoping to hear your guys' thoughts and experiences. Thanks in advance for the feedback.
Hello! I’ve been looking for a gaming keyboard for my desk. Any recommendations, suggestions, or opinions are welcome. Thank you very much! :)
📌Minimal Requirements
Budget: Around $200 USD (give or take)
Full RGB support
White keyboard (for my desk color palette)
At least 65%, but TKL or 100% will be my best option
Linear or tactile switch + the quieter the better (I have other people living in the house)
USB-C port for charging/connecting
Low profile! (duh)
✨Extra Preference
Hot swappable switches/keys are a plus
Weight doesn’t matter, it will be sitting on my desk 24/7
Shine-through keycaps are a plus
Primarily used for gaming, but great typing experience is a HUGE plus
Having 1000Hz polling rate or more is a plus
Wired/wireless doesn’t matter, but wireless is more preferred
Mechanical keys preferred
🤔 My Current Options
Logitech G915 X Lightspeed TKL
ASUS Falchion RX Low Profile
Logitech G515 Lightspeed TKL
💻 (Extra Info) My Experience With Keebs
Quite new to mechanical keyboards / custom keyboards
Frequent laptop/apple keys user, switching to low profile keys after 9 months of high profile use (don’t like arm/wrist rests as well)
Relatively light typist, does a lot of typing/translation work
Causal gamer, plays various games from FPS to RPGs
Familiar with linear switches (silent ones too), don’t prefer clicky noise
Interested in using tactile switch (never used one before)
Small hands, short arms
If there are also cheap alternatives that can be used with white shine-through keycaps, I’m also open for those options. I also don’t mind all the little bells and whistles (knobs, buttons etc.) as long as it fits all the preferences that are listed above.
Thanks again for your time and I look forward to hear your opinions about it! :)
