r/Bedding on Reddit: Buffy Review
September 4, 2019 -

TLDR: I would recommend the Buffy breeze duvet insert but not the sheet set or duvet cover.

Well I wanted to post a review somewhere since Buffy won’t let me post a review to their website, which I find to be quite dishonest; their reviews are definitely curated to only show 5 star reviews. I was initially drawn in by the promise of cooling bedding and went forward with purchasing because of their sustainability goals. I ended up buying their duvet insert, duvet cover, & sheet set which I have used for a few months now.

Duvet (Breeze) insert review:

  • positives: plush, more cooling than my feather duvet, ideal for spring & fall weather

  • negatives: still sleep hot & would probably be better off with a thin quit or blanket

Duvet cover review:

  • positives: soft

  • negatives: improper sizing (too much material so it does not fit the insert; they say it will shrink but I have washed & dried it at least 5 times and it has not shrank a bit), extreme static when you take it out of the dryer

Sheets review:

  • positives: soft

  • negatives: improper sizing (the top sheet is too small), elastic for fitted sheet does not work properly so it does not stay put during the night & bunches ups A LOT (Target sheets have better elastic), extreme static from dryer

Buffy Review

I’ve had mine since September of 2019 and have genuinely loved it (totally agree about the duvet cover being awkwardly larger and having loose fabric just hanging around) but the Breeze itself has been lovely. I’ve always dry cleaned it but was so sick of the process I said fuck it and threw it in the wash and the inside material has separated and now there are giant holes in the material. Obviously it’s my fault for not following the wash guidelines but I’ve never seen materials react like this. Super disappointed but just putting it out there that it absolutely is dry clean only…

What Is The Best Material For A Cooling Comforter?
There is no one best material for a cooling comforter, but there are a few that stand out as being the most desirable. Lightweight comforters made using down, silk, lyocell, bamboo viscose and cotton percale are all good choices. “Linen and cotton fabrics are more breathable and allow for a cooling effect, which is better if you run warm,” Dr. Abbasi-Feinberg says.

January 2, 2023 - Speaking of the Buffy Cloud comforter, it’s worth noting that the Breeze is much less lofty. Like the Cloud, it’s still got that fluffy down-alternative feel, but the Breeze is definitely on the thinner side.

What differentiates these two comforters sold by Buffy is their fill materials. The Breeze model has all-natural fill, while the Cloud’s fill is synthetic recycled plastic. The Breeze has a lightweight, cooling, silky feel. The Cloud is thicker and meant for warmth. The Buffy Breeze is an all-natural comforter focused on keeping hot sleepers cool at night. Made from TENCEL lyocell sourced from eucalyptus trees, the Buffy Breeze delivers a silky-smooth feel thatu2019s cozy without the night sweats, all while being good for the environment.

The 8 Best Comforters For Hot Sleepers, After Months Of Testing
4 days ago - Our tester reports that she got mixed results in terms of breathability for the Buffy Comforter. Although she didn’t feel “clammy or sweaty” with it, her hot-sleeping fiancé did. But our tester recognizes that he typically prefers a quilt over a comforter, anyway. She adds, “I think many hot sleepers would enjoy its cool-to-the-touch sensation that’s akin to finding the ‘cold side’ of the pillow.” · Like many comforters, the Breeze works best with a duvet cover (and is designed to pair with the Breeze Duvet Cover Set), as Buffy recommends dry cleaning it.
