Hello all!
I'm looking to install a home theater setup in a multipurpose room, and I have the ability to do a 7.2.4 setup with a 75" TV (I think). I am taking out a wall to replace the drywall with cement board and put up some natural stone. I'd like to add a built-in fireplace/shelf/AV cabinet/media center thing that I've designed, and I would like to keep it around the 18"-22" depth and 66" width if possible. I have included pictures of my room that I drew in CAD as well as the 75" TV, the two DefTech BP9040s fronts that I own, the BP9040 center that I own, and some misc. gaming consoles that I have. I also have included the floating shelves my wife has requested and, in some photos, the couch we currently own. I may or may not replace the couch depending on how awkward it is to maneuver around.
My questions are these:
Is a ~20" deep shelf enough for a Denon AVR-X6800H receiver? The shelf that would hold this would be 20"Dx24"Wx10"H and I realize most 11.2-11.4 receivers are about 20" deep except just a couple I've found including this Denon one. I don't have a place to add a media cabinet in this room, and the nearest room that I do is over 50' away.
Does anyone have experience mounting TVs to rock? I was thinking I could make my stud locations known, and drill through the rock into studs and use some extra-long lags. I know that the TV is technically too high for my couch (52"CL instead of 40"CL), but there is also a bar height table that my wife and I sit at to watch TV behind it.
Do I need to add some sound damping pads on the other side of my room? I don't know how much rock reflects sounds, but I'd like to keep that wall looking nice. The opposite side of the room has some wall space if that may be needed.
The rest of my speakers will be in-wall/in-ceiling, should I add conduit from the receiver to the speakers while I have the walls off? Should I add conduit from my devices to the receiver and from the receiver to the TV? Not sure if this is necessary if the speaker wire is in-wall rated.
Thank you for your time, and please let me know if I am missing anything.
