Have a quick read on the best types of fonts for headers and body text and pick a couple from Word. This becomes your basic branding and design language. Ensure everything you produce fits within these parameters and you’ll have the start of a brand. This will be sufficient to carry you well into 6 figures. As long as you’re not in the creative industries, most people don’t care too much for your brand so long as it’s consistent and not garish. My first brand was horrendous, we laugh about it now, didn’t stop it landing FTSE100 clients. They care more about what you can do them than pretty fonts and pictures. We started our first business brand first, with domain, website, email, Ltd etc. Now we just start talking to prospects to validate the ideas and build as we go. That said, there’s a lot more to strategic branding than just a brand guidelines document. It’s more about the purpose, stories, vision, mission, promise, strapline, and personality, all before your name, logo and colours. You’d be ahead of most business if you consider the above.
