Replacing drawer boxes
How do I determine the right drawer box size for my existing cabinets?
If you are replacing a drawer and using the same drawer slides, order the same dimensions as the drawer you’re replacing.
If you are replacing the drawer slides, you must follow the measuring instructions for the drawer slides.
Do your drawer boxes come assembled or unassembled?
Dovetail drawer boxes can be ordered unassembled or assembled. Dowel drawer boxes can only be ordered unassembled.
Can I order drawer boxes in custom sizes?
All of our drawer boxes can be ordered to your custom size.
Sizes for width, depth, and height come in 1/16″ increments.

I want/need to replace a single drawer box in my kitchen (current cabinets are cheeeeeap builder grade. [I'm renting]). The drawer glide broke on my silverware drawer. I was just going to fix/replace it but, this drawer is in an extended depth cabinet, while the drawer box is only 14" deep. I felt this was a good opportunity to extend this drawer to at least get a little more silverware space- there's very limited drawer space in this kitchen.
I don't have a table saw or router. What's my best option? I was thinking a dovetail box would be best given it's a silverware drawer and will have some weight in it. Are there inexpensive 'hand tool' dovetail jigs? Do any lumber yards/home centers sell stock that's maybe pre-tailed? I've tried googling for replacement drawer boxes but, those options all seem to be closer to $100+ in addition to shipping.
Are there any options that would allow me to do this for closer to $50-ish? Not including slides/rails, I'll buy and install appropriate slides separately. Is there an inexpensive drawer box option I'm overlooking? Or am I just going to have to just buy a Harbor Freight router and dovetail jig?
The current drawer is 22" W x 14" D x 4" H Was thinking of trying to do a 22" W x 22" D (ish) cabinet depth is: 26.75" from inside-back to face frame.
Drawer face is full overlay, so I should be able to attach it to basically any box. Also plan on buying full extension slides with a weight rating appropriate for the drawer+contents.
It would help if you can identify the manufacturer. Frequently the manufacturer will have some sort of marking on the side of the drawer boxes. Pull out some of the drawers and see if you find anything indicating who built them.
It's also common for manufacturers to leave a label somewhere in the sink base cabinet. Look on the door or inside the cabinet to see if you find anything. The label will typically indicate the style and finish.
As beazors mentioned it looks like you're also missing the front of the drawer box and you're probably better off getting a whole drawer assembly if possible.
The major home centers, Lowes, Home Depot, etc can typically order items such as this custom made. If the cabinet was originally a "stock" size cabinet from such a place, it should be easy to get a replacement. You may or may not be able to find a match to the finish, though. I would hesitate to spend a lot on a really good replacement as a merely adequate replacement would probably fill your need and not be an issue for the next owner. Bring the existing drawer in, and possibly one of the others, as a sample. If two drawers are the same, bring the completed one with you and ask for a copy of that. Be sure to measure the width, depth, and height where the drawer will go.
Alternatively, you could look locally in the yellow pages or google maps for custom cabinet shops. Some of the smaller ones may pick up any work they can get and would most likely be able to stain match what you have already. You'll pay more though, shop time in a good cabinet shop can be 100 or more, and for a drawer like that, they might charge you for several hours of work including the staining/finishing.
The front and back boards of the drawer are split. I realize it can’t be fixed with old handy wood glue but can I find wood pieces to simple replace the broken boards or do I need to replace the whole thing?
I thought this would be an easy thing to find to buy or replace but a custom drawer box looks to be about $50. Trying to find a cheaper diy solution of wood, type, what and where to buy?
