Trigger Warning: Miscarriage and Identity Theft
I just wanted to add my experience here:
I just received an unwanted Caden Lane catalog in the mail today. It's unwanted because my husband and I have been stuggling to have a baby for nearly 8 years. I have had 3 successful pregnancies but after 11 years of marriage I have no living children. Seeing that catalog was a gut punch to me. Why did this company choose to randomly send me a catalog? Is it my age? My zip code? My ethnicity?
Then it clicked that I recently had my data stolen from a company I used to work for. I know that this company has bought or found my information unethically. The reason I know for certain is because I don't have a middle name but someone in HR added a middle initial by accident. The mail was addressed to Phunky I. Phruit my legal name is just Phunky Phruit, I don't have a middle initial/name and that company fat fingered that exact initial so it was not accidental...
A company that does not think about how it impact others lives in negative ways when they just randomly send stuff out to people who may or may not be struggling with dead babies just because I am of child bearing age and fit a certain demographic in a community which has wonderful schools and many children is just gross.
Furthermore, knowing that a company benefited and profited from a data breach which resulted in identity theft also makes me question their ethics big time.
More on reddit.comWords of caution about ordering from Caden Lane… Don’t. I ordered 2 personalized blankets from them on Jul 27th. At that time, the website stated “1-2 weeks for personalized items” and my order confirmation reflected the same. I expected that it would take the entire 2 weeks, so I also paid for expedited shipping (an additional $40) so it would take only 2 days transit, once it shipped. On Aug 10th, my order still had not shipped. I contacted them and was told that personalized items would take 2-3 weeks and that it had “only been just over 2 weeks” since I placed my order. On Aug 12th, I received a shipping notification. On Aug 18th (6 days after shipment) my order arrived…. and it was incorrect. I received 1 blanket I had ordered, and one blanket that belonged to somebody else. I immediately messaged them on facebook (because email communication with them is subpar). I did receive a prompt response, “I will issue a reprint for the missing swaddle immediately and request an expedited shipping”, but no offer to refund any part of my purchase (ie, my $40 in shipping). So, today, Aug 26th, I’ve still had heard NOTHING from them. No email of shipping confirmation, no updates whatsoever from this “small, mom-owned business”, so I facebook messaged them again. Once again, I received a prompt response, saying “We issues a reprint and your item has already shipped! Here is the tracking…”, so I clicked on the given link. It shipped Aug 24th, with an expected arrival date of Aug 28th. Some “expedited shipping”. Moral of this story… DON’T ORDER FROM CADEN LANE. I have ordered from Posh Peanut, Aspen & Co, Spearmint. ALL baby boutiques, all GREAT companies! The “moms” running this company don’t have a clue what they are doing and have no concept of good business practice. They want your money.
I wanted to get some sets of their Color Me pajamas, so I was browsing their website, when a window popped up and said that if I sign up for emails, I could get 15% off my order. So I entered my email address, then it told me I had to also sign up for texts to get the discount code. So I did that as well. Then I started getting frequent texts and emails about this or that, but no discount code. I had someone named "Sarah" (idk if it was a real person or a computer) text me telling me she/it could "ring me up" with a 10% discount - "no code required." So basically they refuse to give you an actual code or let you apply it yourself. I straight up asked if they were going to give me a discount code since I signed up for texts and emails, but they never replied to what I said, just sent another text saying "since we're beasties, you get 20% off" but then after you click on the link, it just takes you to the home page with no discount applied to your cart. I call bullshit, pretty sure this whole website is just a scam.
Then, I tried to check out, and all of a sudden (10 minutes after adding the items to the cart), it said that all of the items I had in my cart were out of stock. I know it's Christmas shopping season but I doubt the stuff just went out of stock all of a sudden. I think it's because I told the whatever/whoever I was texting with that I thought they were full of shit since they wouldn't give me the coupon code they claimed they'd give if I signed up for emails (and then texts).
TL;DR: Caden Lane website won't give out the discount code they claim they'll give you for signing up for emails (and also forces you to sign up for texts in order to actually get the code, but still won't give it to you).
I’ve been eyeing a couple cute patterns for my little girl on each one of these sites. Are they worth the hype and the price? Can your baby truly wear them longer than other clothes because they’re stretchy??
