You are absolutely correct, and I appreciate how you phrased it. Arizona is NEVER "Pacific Time." While, yes, right now our clocks match those set to Pacific Daylight Time, AZ (with limited exceptions, like the Navajo Nation) is ALWAYS Mountain Standard Time. When the clocks "spring forward" an hour in the summer, Pacific Daylight time matches Mountain Standard time, while Mountain Daylight time is an hour ahead of AZ's Mountain Standard time. When the clocks "fall back" in the winter, Pacific Standard is an hour behind Mountain Standard time, so AZ no longer aligns with the West coast and, instead, welcomes and rejoins our wayward Mountain Daylight sojourners back to Mountain Standard time. That is a very confusing way of indicating time. Los Angeles is generally at UTC–8, which is 11 to 19 hours behind that region. It's difficult to work out what that actually means though in this context. More on reddit.com

July 15, 2021Time zone on macOS keeps reverting back to GMT when it shouldn't be
FIXED! After discovering that the issue was being caused by keeping System Settings selected during Migration Assistant, I changed my googling up a bit and happened upon this post: https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/204874/macos-detects-location-but-doesnt-set-time-zone-automatically Specifically this reply: https://apple.stackexchange.com/a/438315 I checked that my time services did have location services allowed, then ran ls -l /var/db/timezone/zoneinfo/America/ and saw most of the files had their permissions set to 0644, but Chicago was different. I set the permissions with sudo chmod 0644 /var/db/timezone/zoneinfo/America/Chicago I then restarted the device, and the time was correctly set. Within Date & Time, the time zone was correcting showing the location on the map and its name. More on reddit.com
