My company and my spouse's company are offering us the option to relocate to Austin from the Bay Area. We both get to keep our current roles, but the move to Austin comes with a 15% pay cut.
What's the best way to estimate the difference in bi-weekly pay between CA and TX? I know there are online calculators, but is there one that is most trusted?
Also on a more personal note, if you were in this position, would you consider moving to Austin?

Don't compare Texas to California. Compare the bay area to Austin and their surroundings for their CoL and tax rates.

Austin is not Texas when it comes to cost of living. The city has almost doubled in population since I moved here 10 years ago & the cost of living has increased significantly. It has the highest COA of any place in Texas. For example we paid 275k for our house 10 years ago & it was recently evaluated for 790k. Coworkers have complained of 30%+ rent hikes this year. Property taxes are high. Gas is cheaper that California for sure. Food both at the grocery store & restaurants is comparable to the Bay Area. Oh & it’s been over 100F everyday since the last week of May & our hottest month is typically August. Personally, I wouldn’t move here for a 15% pay cut, especially with the clowns that are in the state government right now.
