Callum Turner on moments that made him fall in love with Dua Lipa
r/JamesBond seeks to be a source for higher quality news aggregation. For that reason, our rules prohibit obvious clickbait articles and tabloid nonsense from being shared, and we push general Bond 26 speculation to Fridays so that the sub doesn't become flooded with low effort "What about [insert pic of actor in a tux]??" posts every day of the week.
At the same time, it isn't 2023 anymore. There is movement on the next film. Denis Villeneuve (who reportedly has wrapped shooting on Dune: Part III) is in place as the director, and Steven Knight has begun writing the next script. So these days there might be a bit more justification for casting talk.
This week we saw rumors about Callum Turner go viral on social media. First there was a sudden shift in betting markets toward him. Then a Dutch news outlet reported (in an article filled with embarrassing errors) that he had definitely been selected as Bond...by producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson (*facepalm*). And finally Jeff Sneider (who has a decidedly mixed record with entertainment scoops) wrote in his newsletter that he's heard Villeneuve does have an eye on the 35 year old English actor.
More likely than not, this is standard rumor mill stuff. Or perhaps a deliberate trial balloon from Amazon MGM like we saw earlier this year when Variety reported that the studio was eyeing the likes of Jacob Elordi, Harris Dickinson, and Tom Holland. A ploy to both gauge interest amongst the public and to get folks talking about Bond around the water cooler again. In other words, not something to give much credence to.
Again, the mod team typically removes speculation except on Fridays. But we also want to create space for when something like this does go viral, so that when users visit afterwards, the sub doesn't seem out of the loop.
So...over to you. Callum Turner. Discuss.
