Is a kids' debit card a good idea?
Introducing debit cards to kids can be helpful because it teaches them about spending habits and helps them become more mindful spenders in the future. On the flip side, debit cards may enable overspending and blur kids’ internal lines between their needs and wants. Looking for recommendations. my oldest has been going out places with her friends and I’d like to have a way to give her some money without handing her cash or one of my cards. Can anyone recommend a good debit card for someone under 13? EDITED TO ADD My bank doesn’t offer any accounts or cards for those under 16. I’m aware of various prepaid cards that are geared toward kids but have seen mixed reviews on most of them.

Do I need my parent to do this? I don’t need to open a new account, just pick up my card, so I am unsure of the rules on this.
