Hello DMV community. Hope everyone is well and is having a good day. I had a question I hope someone can answer it for me. I would really appreciate it.

So I had paid my registration renewal online because i didn’t get my notice and i just found out all my mail got sent back because my brother didn’t check the mail while I was out of town. So my question is it mandatory to go to the DMV? Or can I pay at one of those kiosk they have at the vons or Albertsons?? My insurance is up to date and all. I just don’t want the hassle of going to the DMV lol. Thanks for taking the time to read.

Kiosk will give you a replacement at a cost. You should be able to get a free replacement at the DMV as not received. Should be right around $30 or so. Up to you, time or about $30. This is for California.

Hi! I was having an under-slept ADHD moment and accidentally threw away the envelopes I'm pretty certain had our renewed proof of car registration and our new stickers. What is the best way to deal with this that is the most time efficient and the cheapest (Ok if time efficient is not cheapest but would love to hear options). I am an AAA member but that place embodies the Sloth in Zootopia, more so than DMV, in my view.

There are DMV kiosk machines located around the city (in certain grocery stores for instance). The kiosk does charge whereas you might be able to get replacements for free at the DMV. But the kiosk is way quicker. https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/locations/kiosks/

Does anybody know if you can get a replacement month sticker at a DMV Kiosk in CA? I either didn’t get one by mistake, or threw it away by mistake. I have the year tag, just not the month.

Nah you can't, but if you chat with a dmv agent they can mail you. If you go to the office they can just give it to you as well. There is no charge for those.

If you happen to belong to AAA, they can give you one there. I'm fairly sure they are going to want to see your registration though.

You can just walk in with your registration card in hand and request for a new one for free.

Contact your DMV, they have a procedure for this but there's no real need ot do it.

The dmv will sell you a replacement one as long as they can verify you are the registered owner. It was super easy. Years ago I had to pay $15 in the San Diego area. If you want to avoid the dmv lines, you can go to a place that charges a bit more for dmv services.

I know it's too late this time, but in the future, just put the new sticker on as soon as you receive it. There's no need to wait until the old sticker expires.
