Does Western Union have a daily sending limit?
Can I increase my Western Union sending limit?
For anyone who is interested in sending money through western union here is food for thought. Western Union claims that up to 5000 USD can be sent to another country and picked up at ANY WESTERN UNION outlet. THIS IS A LIE. I sent $5000 Canadian dollars to Brazil then the CAD was worth 4.17 BRL. Western union first took the privilege of cancelling the transfer siting they thought this was a someone wanting money, even though I was fully aware of what I was doing, they decided That I could not transfer. After convincing them and rewording my reason for transfer, and when the CAD was worth 4.13BRL they said they would transfer 19664 BRL to pickup and ANY western union outlet, which was about200 BRL less than the initial transfer. When I sent my person to pick up the funds, she was told that she could not have any more than 10000 BRL in one transfer. I phone western union and after 1 hour on the phone they told me to try another store. There are 4 stores in her city. None of them would give her the funds the transfer was for, even though it was less than $4000 USD. I phoned again, after another hour on the phone, I asked the funds to be split into 2 transfers. "oh yes we can do this" was the help desks answer. After 3 days of no reply I phone again, another hours and "it has to go to the financial department" After 3 days no answer, this time I went direct to the supervisor who sent an email and said I should have a reply in 72 hours. Instead of a reply, they sent me an email stating they cannot process my request and were supposed to refund my money of 19664 BRL which was supposed to be $5155 CAD because the CAD had dropped to 4.02 BRL. Western Union took my funds, bought BRL with it, the CAD lost value against the BRL and returned to me the $5000 dollars gaining $155.CAD. I wonder if it would have been the same if I Cancelled and the BRL had lost value and and the CAD was worth $4845. What pisses me off is that they do not say on their website that outlets make their own rules as to how much can be picked up in one transaction. And they do not say that they have the final say about me sending my funds on a transaction that I know what I am sending. If they had said Brazil has a limit of 10000 BRL per transaction, or to check with the stores as to how much money can be picked up, I would not be writing this rant, and I would not be getting 700 BRL less than I would have got if My initial transfer was done properly. I am done with Western union and I am trying out wise to send this money again. I am not happy.!!!!
