So I have this code from discord nitro gifts for PC game pass for a month but whenever I go to redeem it, it gives an error message saying:
" Check the instructions that came with your code. You might need to redeem it on a different web page or device, or you may be ineligible to redeem this code. "
I've seen some people say it might be expired? I've also seen people say that if you have already had game pass before then you can't redeem it. In which I have but I find that REALLY dumb how it wont allow me to redeem it just because I had already previously had it.

I got this fixed by using brave browser vpn and changeed region to US, after that it accepted code, hope this helps.

The Xbox redemption system automatically defaults to recurring billing being toggled on when you add a pre-paid card or activate a free trial. Since the system wants to remain seamless with your service it needs something to bill once your pre-paid card / trial time expires, so it is going to ask you to add a payment option prior to activating. If you look at the small print you will see where it says Turn off recurring billing to stop future charges... This is actually something I find easier to deal with via the Xbox Website than I do through the in system portal.

Likely you are either in a region not supported buy the code or you have had game pass Ultimate before. Trials are for new users only

The date is 15th May 2025 and in the past I used Nord VPN to redeem Xbox game pass ultimate (India) codes from Eneba and it worked for an Australian console gamer like me. Now I'm reading about that Microsoft have made several changes to this kind of method.

As far as I know it doesn’t expire. I got this at the start of 2024 and activated it end of July. It renewed my 15 year old gold account.

Game Pass codes don’t expire right away, but once redeemed, they stack onto your existing subscription. If you already have multiple years, it will add to the total.

You redeem the card by going to microsoft.com and signing in, search around in setting for the ability to redeem a code if you have a hard time finding it try going to microsoft.com/redeem but make sure your singed in.

Go to Xbox.com and log in and sign into your account. Then navigate to your Xbox Live profile picture and click on it. Lastly you would want to click “Redeem code” and enter the 25 character code.
