I received an Apple Pencil as a gift but they bought me the gen 2 and my iPad is older so I need the 1. My friends didn’t get a gift receipt and they paid cash and also now I’m back home. Does anyone know if I will be able to return this for an exchange without a receipt? I opened it so the outer plastic is not on it, I myself didn’t know that the gen 2 wouldn’t connect to my iPad
I currently have an iPad Pro 10.5 with an Apple Pencil. I’ve had it for almost 3 years, and I’ve been looking at the new Pro and the new Air. If I wanted to trade my current iPad in for a newer model, would there be any store where I could get some type of value for the Pencil as well? If so, where?
I think you can get more by selling it, considering that it is still in good conditions.
Apple doesn't do trade in for accessories, nor do many major technology stores. The only way you are going to get something for your pencil is if you sell it on eBay or something, but I wouldn't expect too much for it considering the relative age of the battery.
I have an aging 2018 MBA, 128GB intel i5, base model. Looking to upgrade before my current device becomes worthless. The trade in offer is $425 (store credit), compared to $270 from apple. I do value the convenience of trading in rather than selling on Ebay. Thoughts?
I am trying to trade in my 2020 iPad Pro 11 inch but I have hit a roadblock with Best Buy. When I go through the whole process Best Buy gives me the wrong model number and says it is from 2017. It doesn’t even list the 2020 model and a phone call doesn’t help. It just says agents have no further information refer to the website. Apple lists its value at far above Best Buy (and also has the right information about it) but I had a Best Buy gift card I wanted to use with the trade in. Has anyone else had this issue (the trade-in center lists the wrong model and date)? If so, how did you resolve it?
Thanks in advance
I bought an open box Apple Pencil in Jan 2024 with a 1 year manufacturers warranty promise. Last week it suddenly quit on me. I went to the Geek Squad, who told me Apple directly handles manufacturers warranty issues. I went to Apple, they did all the diagnostics they could think of until they agreed the Pencil had kicked it. However, they said the pencils date of sale was December 2022, so I was out of warranty.
I went back to Best Buy, and they told me there was nothing they could do at the store, and to call customer service. I called three times and each time ended up disconnected when they passed me around.
I guess I’m the moron who was penny wise and pound foolish for buying open box?
UPDATE: As u/akricketson suggested, I spoke to primary care at Apple, who said I needed an original receipt from Best Buy (with a logo) and then had me contact an Agreement Administrator, who looked over the paperwork and updated my date of purchase. Thanks to everyone who responded for the helpful ideas!
