I'll say no. I'm from the Northwest Territories (Canadian Arctic) and even up in the north you rarely find people using Canada Goose jackets because a) they're prohibitively expensive b) there are so many equally-warm alternatives, albeit less trendy., and c) they really aren't that durable. Living in SW Ontario now, I can't help but smile when I see so many people here wearing Canada Goose jackets. It's fine if people buy them because they're trendy, but it's absurd when people say they really need them for that super cold SW Ontarian weather. Anyway, my vote goes to Columbia's Titanium winter jackets-- I've had mine for nearly a decade and it's extremely warm, comfortable and durable. I'm having a bit of trouble finding the women's equivalent on their website, but I mainly just wanted to let you know that even if you live in Arctic, you can still get by without spending $800+. Not worth it at all from a functional perspective. Edit: If I sound like some snobby northerner, I apologize-- I just want people to know that Canada Goose jackets are overkill for the vast majority of people, and that trendiness aside there are many good alternatives that can be had for much less. On one hand, they’re super cozy and warm. Sure, other jacket brands are pretty comparable (like Patagonia, Fjallraven, North Face), but you’ll definitely be warm in a Canada Goose. That said, depending on where you live, they’re also kind of a “statement.” I’m in college, and on my campus, there’s definitely a trend of making fun of anyone bundled up in a CG coat when it’s above 20 degrees. Maybe it’s unfair, but they carry a bit of a “trust fund kid” stereotype. Again, that’s only here though—I’m sure it varies elsewhere! So they’re really good quality coats, but may or may not come with some extra baggage if that makes sense. More on reddit.com

Canada Goose Chilliwack jackets are still required equipment for flight crews in the far north, those definitely hold up. The more “fashion” styles I have heard are not nearly as robust, so ymmv. More on reddit.com

Look into outdoor brands that have coats specifically for mountaineering and winter outdoor activities such as Patagonia, Mountain Hard-wear, Marmot and Fjallraven.
