I basically want this feature from RBC, but my bank, TD, doesn't have it and setting up and then balancing multiple account across banks just for one feature sounds like a pain when what I've been doing is simply auto paying off my credit cards so i never spend money on interest.
As for why this feature is attractive, I hate the idea of giving my credit card details to some poorly run website for some unique item and having them lose my information later.
Id much rather have the ability to close off that interaction for the small shops that dont do paypal or similar.
I was really excited for Paypal Key but they suddenly cancelled it and never had it available in Canada in the first place.
Are there any options?
I just want to not worry about this.
Nah unfortunately there are no other real options for you to hide your OnlyFans subscriptions and sketchy porn site purchases.
Wise (formerly Transferwise) offers a prepaid Visa card where you can also create/destroy virtual cards attached to that account.

I was reading about the zero-liability text being removed from CC user-agreements and remembered that when I ask my bank about virtual credit cards, they acted if it was alien tech and had no idea of what I was talking about.
It works like this: you open your CC app and ask for a new "virtual card". The app will return you a new CC number/crc that is valid for one operation only, (some times allows to be used for only a day or to have a different limit set, that is usually the amount of the operation you are planning to buy). It kind of works like a disposable credit card, and billing is done is your main card.
That pretty much solves the problem of buying things online for me.
Why isn't this a thing in Canada?
So Privacy.com is US only temp prepaid vitual debit card company, which can be used to buy stuff online with more privacy. Do we have anything like that in Canada. I want to buy online from T*mu but don't want to share my card details with them at all considering they have been in news for data leaks.
I found that the last post on this topic was 5 years ago on this sub Any updates?
I'm looking to buy something online and I would like to start using virtual one-time use credit cards, or something similar, to avoid adding my real cc.
Does Canada have VCCs or it's a US-only thing? Do I need to have an account with a specific bank to be able to make them?
Ive been trying to find a virtual credit card for online shopping safety and also a gym membership somewhere new since I may want to opt out of the one I currently have (their customer service has been terrible for a while).
I thought I was onto something with privacy[dot]com but realized that you need to have an account in the US, which I don't.. wish I did though because it seems like the states have a lot more options for payment systems of all kinds.
I stumbled upon WISE and people seem to really like it for online shopping, I'm wondering if it can be used irl for things like a gym membership (so you can cancel if they start having crappy service), or things of that sort that you may wish to cancel at some point.
How are people using their WISE virtual cards? What benefits do you feel like you get from it?
I think KOHO has one as well but I havent heard much about them before.
Hey y'all,
Looking for a virtual credit cards (prepaid) provider in canada for my clients who get random blocks with their own cards with facebook
In canada, I seem to have issues with some clients that are with BMO or Desjardins, they'll have to call the bank every few payments, it's a hassle
So, any idea about virtual cards in canada?

Hi,
Does anyone know a Bank in Canada that allows their customers to generate multiple credit card numbers for specific purchase? I want to be able to generate multiple prepaid credit cards from my personal credit card or debit card. I hear that some banks in USA allows this, but they charge a small amount for this. This will be used for single time only instead of using my main credit card. Anyone know anything about that? Thanks!
AITA if I don't understand why this question is in r/CanadianInvestor and has been upvoted?
How is this at all relevant
Many banks offer Virtual Visa Debit, if that helps. Or do you mean you want something that can only be used once? (ie: to avoid any recurring charges related to the purchase)
I do a lot of online shopping and I have had my card compromised a few times already from different merchants. Privacy.com is EXACTLY what I need where you can constantly generate a new card number to avoid these kind of issues. Someone said KOHO, other said STACK - but none of these let you generate a new card # for checkout. I actually have a US TD bank debit card, however Privacy does not let you sign up unless you are a US citizen. Are there ANY options online for Canadians that let you constantly generate a unique card for each purchase?
So, two times in as many months, my credit card has been compromised. First it was my Scotia Visa/Debit that got hit with a $300 transaction at Canadian Tire online. Got that card cancelled. Then I get hit on my Scotia Visa/Credit for $800 at some Tokyo electronics shop online.
I've got online subscriptions through Microsoft, Amazon Prime, Disney+, Netflix, YouTube, and Chefs Plate. They all only had my credit card and not my debit card info.
The only places where I have used both in the past were three online stores for 3D assets. These stores have been around for years and appear to be trustworthy....but I have a feeling that one of them may be compromised.
I've been trying to look for virtual credit cards for online shopping. I thought privacy[dot]com would be a good fit, but it's only available in the US. Scotia Bank doesn't offer any of those services. Would be nice if we could have some kind of burner credit card or something that's only good for that specific vendor much like how Privacy[dot]com works.
Does anyone know of any similar services in Canada that may work?
Hi, wondering if anyone knows any other VCC's like Last Card. unfortunately they seem to be shutting down their service, & I need to find an alternative as Privacy.com and many others aren't available in Canada.
any suggestions would be great!
I already know about Koho and Stack, was hoping for other options aside the 2...
thanks
Not sure whats up with this sub but they seem to hate the idea of virtual credit cards.
I really want one to use with iTunes to set a super low spending cap monthly but haven't found a solution in Canada.
If you have a Wise Card, you can generate multiple virtual cards at will. I assume there's a limit though but I don't know what it is offhand.
After discovering that a web service charged me nearly 100$ for a yearly subscription that I did not request, I want to look into getting a virtual credit card that lets you generate a unique CC number that can only be used once.
Normally, I use PayPal to avoid having to disclose my credit card number online. At least when you cancel a service through them, it's cancelled. As far as I know, a company can't charge you again.
But some services won't accept credit cards, which basically means they can charge you whenever they feel like it.
I did a little bit of research and KOHO keeps popping up. I don't need any of their banking features and don't need any credit building. But they seem to offer a virtual credit card.
Has anyone used them for this purpose? Or are there alternatives?
ETA: I double-checked the KOHO website and no where do they mention the ability to generate unique credit card numbers, so I think that's a dead-end.
I’m thinking about the Robin Hood card. The 3% catch all is really good and visa so can be used at Costco. I already have the Apple Card.
What other cards have really good virtual cards .. easy to use.. can have multiple.. and some people talk about being able to use one for one biller another for another etc.
Which do you find the best overall?
Which do you find good for certain purposes?
I have read capital one but they don’t seem to want me ( I have real good credit, I think it is because I have more cards from other issuers than they like, they prefer being the only one you have or one of the few I have read)
I have read Citi has a good virtual card card also
I do have Citi custom cas and Apple Card already.
I have not used virtual cards yet except the initial when first signing up for a card temporarily.
I would like to experiment around with them and see if in some way it can make my life easier/ make me be able to make safer purchases/ also sometimes I have signed up for subscription based things that are had to cancel. I am looking at you NFL.com ( if anyone knows how to cancel whatever it was I signed up for.. it was 6.99 or 7.99 per month I’d appreciate that too.
TY
Hey r/canadasmallbusiness
I've just opened up a new corporation, bank accounts set up. I'm not in the position right now to get a business credit card and don't see the need of acquiring one as I'm very low overhead and have few expenses. I'd like to be able to separate my personal life and business life and ideally don't want to pay for online services using my own credit card.
I'm looking at a few services that allow you to get a "virtual" credit card that simply connects to your bank account and draws funds directly (aka doesn't hold a balance). Are there any suggestions you folks would have? Would be greatly appreciated thanks!
WS has been pretty innovative, and I would love to see this service offered. Right now, in Canada, there doesn't seem to be any financial institution that offers you the possibility of generating one-time credit card numbers (it could be tied to your cash card) to be used for shopping online and safekeeping your card number.
Which card can I get, that’ll allow me instant access
